Trees are an invitation to think about time and to travel in it the way they do, by standing still and reaching out and down.
Rebecca Solnit
I think about this quote often because it’s fundamentally antithetical to the nature of how things operate here in Silicon Valley, yet there’s something so necessary in it that would transform this place. Things change so fast, often without real explanation or even need. Decisions often feel shallow. There’s a feeling of emptiness underlying so much. It can feel like no on sees this, let alone wants to do anything to change it, but I find myself trying to slow down, planting roots to quietly demonstrate a better way.
