The progress of humanity seemed to be measured in the distance we placed between ourselves and nature.
Matt Haig
Change this particular quote from author Matt Haig to put it in the present tense and it feels like exactly what we’ve been doing to ourselves for decades, yet somehow also feels like like something increasingly exacerbated by our relationships with and to technology. We could have technology that encourages a more balanced relationship to nature, to the source of our core being, yet we continue to drift further afield thanks to new shiny objects that promise us “this time it’ll be different.”
Spoiler: it almost certainly will not.
