Build something during Schulich Maker Week
The Schulich School of Engineering is excited to host its third annual Maker Week.
The Schulich Maker Week workshops will be hosted in our Makerspace. Open to all UCalgary students, faculty and staff, the Makerspace provides a fun and safe interactive experiential learning environment.
Multiple one-hour workshops will be hosted throughout the week where participants will have the chance to cultivate new skills and work with cutting-edge technology. Explore 3D printing, augmented reality, embroidery, smart devices and soldering!
Maker Week 2025: Monday, February 24 - Friday, February 28, 2025
3D Printing
Board games? Dinosaurs? Spin tops? If you can dream it, you can 3D-print it! Come and create in our 3D printing workshop and learn about the 3D-printing process. Explore our fleet of high-end 3D printers and learn about how advanced settings can drastically change the quality of your final product.

AR/VR
Dive into the world of AR/VR in Schulich’s Digital Design Hub. Our cutting-edge workshop will give you the opportunity to experience AR/VR through high-end devices including the Microsoft HoloLens 2, where you can explore mixed reality through video games.

Embroidery
Thread your creativity into reality in our embroidery workshop! Learn how to use embroidery machines and design and stitch your very own personalized bookmark. This hands-on workshop will guide you through the process, from threading the machine to mastering stitch settings. Experience the intersection of technology and textiles.

Smart Devices
Come and explore the dynamic world of smart devices! Our workshop will allow you to explore IoT (Internet of Things) and how these developments can improve our day-to-day environment. Build your own desktop weather station that can show the local time, current weather, 3-day forecast, room temperature and room humidity.

Soldering
Are you interested in the basics of soldering? Join us for an exciting hands-on soldering workshop where you'll bring a T-Rex to life with blinking RGB LEDs! Find out more about the basic techniques and safe soldering practices in this intricate workshop. Don't miss out on this electrifying opportunity.

Music
Offered by Schulich Wellness and Schulich Soundstage
Express yourself! This is an ideal hub for those with an interest in music-making. This space provides the opportunity for you to learn beatboxing and a range of musical instruments — including pianos, guitars, cajons and ukuleles — to create your unique melody.
