Terrain - Slit Trenches

I don't know exactly WHEN I started these... It might have been eight years ago - either when I was working on the Regina Trench terrain or some new generic Urban Ruins terrain...? But it COULD have been as recently as five years ago when I was making Movement Trays (as the process is very similar). Regardless, I'd roughed out four of them - two two-man slit trenches, one three-man slit trench, and one for a crew-served weapon. I'm MOSLTY finished one, and never got around to posting it or finishing any of the others...

Having started a Five Men in Normandy campaign, I thought these might come in handy, so I went digging through some boxes to find them and finish them up.

The idea was to find a way to show that troops were dug into slit trenches.... that could be placed on a flat tabletop - and could be placed almost anywhere that's flat - so I wouldn't have to build specific terrain tiles for scenarios in which someone was dug into a slit trench.

I've played around with the idea of doing just a short stack of sandbags, but then thought of this idea and hoped it would LOOK more like the troops were entrenched.

These were clearly a TEST set, as any of the games I would have been thinking of using them for would clearly need a LOT MORE if an entire platoon - or even a few squads were all dug in!? This number works PERFECTLY for Five Men in Normandy, however.

Micro Modern British Battlegroup Complete

Wow... these were quick to paint!

I finished up the the last elements of my Modern British Combat Command box from GHQ models - the Warrior IFVs and AS-90 self-propelled artillery.

The latest: AS-90s and Warrior IFVs.

A battery of AS-90 155mm self-propelled guns.

Two reinforced companies of Warrior IFVs

This is the complete battlegroup (so far...). My plan it to use these with Cold War Commander. The battlegroup includes an armoured squadron of Challenger 2 tanks, two reinforced companies of mechanized infantry mounted in Warrior IFVs, and a battery of self-propelled artillery (each element represents roughly a platoon/troop-sized unit).

Currently I am thinking this will be organized as follows:

1x CO (the FV439 signals vehicle - Command Value 10) - 120 points
3x HQ (Two small foot elements and the FV436 with a Cymbeline mortar locating radar - Command Value 9) - @60 = 180 points
4x Tank Units (Challenger 2) @235 = 940
8x IFV Units (Warrior) @75 = 600
8x Infantry Unit (Regulars) @30 = 240
8x Infantry Upgrade (LAW-80) @ 50 = 400
3x Artillery Unit (155mm AS-90) @80 = 240

This comes in at 2720 points.

I might need to change a few things around when I re-read the rules - not totally sure if the FV436 with a Cymbeline mortar locating radar should be an HQ for the Artillery or an FAO...? Do I need both? At some point I'd like to add a few other elements - some FAOs and FACs (not sure if those should be in Land Rovers or Sultan CVR(T)s?) and some sort of recce elements (Scimitars?) and maybe some sort of air support for those FACs to call in (Harrier?).

Suggestions?

What else does this force need?

I picked up two potential opposing forces - a Soviet battlegroup armed with T-80s and BMP-2s and a Chinese PLA battle group armed with T-98 MBTs and Type 89 IFVs. I imagine using it against the former in a later Cold-War-Turns-Hot scenarios in Europe. Later because the Challenger didn't com into service until the later 90s. I guess we could assume the Soviet army cracked down a little harder in 89 and prevented German reunification and/or the 91 soup d'etat by soviet hardliners was more successful - which precipitated a further decline in east-west relations. Or maybe something along the line of what went down in the original Twilight: 2000 (although we'd have to assume that the Challenger 2s were rushed into production a little earlier to be online before the limited nuclear exchange that effectively ended civilization in that game).

Against the Chinese...? Well the T-98 wasn't ready until 1999 and never actually entered service with the Chinese PLA!? (Seems an odd choice to include in a Chinese PLA Combat Team box...?) A small number were made ready for trials in 96, so maybe we could say they were rushed into production a little early to forcibly take back Hong Kong when handover negotiations broke down and the British decided they were unwilling to give up their investment in the colony...? Or perhaps coming to the aid of another former colony/Commonwealth partner when the Chinese decided to invade...? I'm not sure who...? India...? Myanmar..? I don't know... it all seems like a bit of a stretch.

I also have a USMC task force I'm working on... could they be a potential opponent. Maybe the the British decide to Make America Great (Britain) Again...?! Or perhaps the US invades the island to stop them from taking all their jobs...? Maybe I'm getting a bit silly... but then, in today's political climate, nothing really seems THAT farfetched anymore!

If I were to do another British force I'd probably like to do a force for the early 80s with Chieftains and FV-432s and such - or perhaps an airmobile force (helicopters, lots of infantry). Or just a load of infantry with SLRs and stuff that could be used for the Falklands. This is what I probably would have preferred... but they didn't have these when I was at the Sentry Box a couple weeks ago... But now that I HAVE some micro armour, I might get inspired to expand possibilities...

Coming Soon to Tim's Miniature Wargaming Blog:

I have both the USMC and Soviet battlegroups on the workbench and and tempted to hammer those out quickly - so I can get playing CWC again... but I'm also feeling like I should get back to other projects that have fallen by the wayside - the Terminators for Space Hulk, John's Orcs for Shadespire,   the Knight(s), the Tallarn (and Valhallans), other assorted 40K stuff for role-playing, etc...

It's also be nice to get in some miniatures games (and thus be posting game reports!) - I'd like to get in some more games of 40K, but also more of The Pikeman's Lament, and I've also had a hankering to get Dragon Rampant and Song of Blades and Heroes on the table again - as well as possibly FUTURE War Commander - to get some used out of all the Epic 40K stuff I've been working on over the last few years...

More Modern Micro British - Challenger 2 and HQ

Wow these paint up fast! I should have the Warrior IFVs done in no time - then it's on to the Soviets!

All miniatures are from GHQ models.

The latest - four Challenger 2 and a couple of signals vehicles for CO/HQ elements.

This is an FV436 with a Cymbeline mortar locating radar. It will serve as one of my HQs (or possibly the CO?).

This is an FV439 signals vehicle - also to see service as an HQ or CO element.

I guess the CO is supposed to look different from the HQ models... Perhaps I'll have to find something else.

The boxed set also included for TUMs (Truck Utility Medium?). Not sure what I'm going to do with those just yet. Maybe I'll base them individually as other regular elements and call them Transportation Units.

Finally the Challenger 2s. These represent the four troops of an armoured squadron.

Coming Soon to Tim's Miniature Wargaming Blog:

I should probably finish up the the Warrior IFVs to ferry around the Infantry in the next day or two. Then I'll likely crank out the Soviet T-80s and BMP-2s so I can have a game with these...

Then it's back to other projects that have been on hold.

At some point I'm going to have to make some micro-scale terrain - preferably stuff that can be used both for modern games in Europe and the Far East as well as for 20-30000 years in the future with all my Epic stuff...

Modern Micro British

During the vacation over the last few weeks I had the opportunity to visit the Sentry Box in Calgary. Apart from two, out-or-print, individual 40K figures, a pack of Reaper Bones Familiars, and some GF9 "Snow" the bulk of my purchases were GHQ micro armour.

I picked up four battlegroup boxes (though one is for a friend) and a couple packs of individual infantry. While I have been planning to get back into Cold War gaming with micro armour for some time, this was a bit of an impulse purchase. I have LOADS of stuff to work on for this year. I was thinking I'd maybe pick some stuff up next year... but then I was there... and they had these... and... well... you know how it goes.

Also I was originally thinking I'd go with mid-80s Cold-War-Goes-Hot in Europe forces - soviets with T-72s and BMPs and an opposing force of Canadians with Leopard I and M113s... What I've ended up doing here is picking up a few forces for a slightly later conflict...

They DID have a box of Soviets with T-72s and BMP-1s, but as the opposing forces I had to chose from were a little more recent, I opted for the T-80/BMP-2 set.

I tried to pick up four battlegroups that could potentially all fight each other... well... Maybe not the British and USMC... but you never know...?

The British and USMC could fight the Soviets in a early 90s (Extended) Cold War Goes Hot scenario - where the Soviet state didn't collapse and the Berlin Wall didn't come down in 1989. The Soviets could fight the Chinese in a border conflict. The British could fight the Chinese over Hong Kong? The USMC could face the Chinese in Taiwan - or a number of other potential conflict zones in the Southwest Pacific region... Or maybe even in a Chinese invasion of Hawaii...?

I'd STILL like to put together forces of Canadians and Soviets circa 1985, but the will have to wait...

for now, I've started painting a few of the British. So far I've finished up the infantry (the vehicles are all primed and ready to go as well!)

Micro British infantry armed with SA-80 assault rifles.

A closer look. I did try to do a bit of camouflage colours to make it look like they were in Temperate DPM. I think the box set was really meant for use in Iraq or Afghanistan or other potential Middle East war zones... but I'm just not that interested in playing those...

Another close up look.

Cold War Commander, which I plan to use with these, is supposed to be scalable. Elements bases could represent either platoons/troops or squads and individual vehicles. I find it a bit abstract for representing individual vehicles. So these will most often be used as platoons - making this a force of approximately two companies.

The two smaller stands could be headquarters or artillery forward observers or forward air controllers.

It's been a while since I played, but it seems that combat is worked out between individual bases. But the tactic in the game, if I recall, was instead of each platoon firing at a single platoon opposite (as platoons opposing each other would) groups of platoons would concentrate their fire on ONE of the opposing platoons - to give a greater chance of eliminating it. So I tried to further abstract things, in my head, and think of the elements more as "strength steps" within the battalion or company, rather than individual platoons....

Here they are with a pair of 28mm British troops of the same era - for comparison.

Coming Soon to Tim's Miniature Wargaming Blog:

Probably more painting updates, but I'm not sure what might come next...

I have a LOT of stuff on the painting desk - Modern Micro British tanks and IFVs... An assortment of Imperial Guard and Adeptus Ministorum priests... The Terminators for Space Hulk... the Knight(s)... and so much more...

If I had to guess, I'd say the Modern Micro British armour would probably come next - they're quick, they're easy and there is a limited number of them and finishing them will complete a playable force.

Also:

I did finish up three more of the "What I Did For My Summer Vacation" posts - they're over on the Bike Blog...

What I Did For My Summer Vacation (Part 2: Climbing - Not Cycling)

What I Did For My Summer Vacation (Part 3 - Canmore Nordic Centre)

Return to the Goat Creek Trail (Part 4)

I have one more post about the last day of riding... which I'll hopefully get to this week. I'm king of running out of steam on these...

Mike Bravo Miniatures

A package from Mike Bravo Miniatures finally arrived a week or so ago. It was a bit of an ordeal to get it, but I'm pretty happy with the figures. About a year ago they'd self-crowd-funded a new line of models: State of Emergency. It included British troops circa 1970-1980 and an assortment of armed civilians. By "self-crowd-funded" I mean they didn't do it through Kickstarter or any other crowd-funding websites, they just did it on their own through pre-orders - much like North Star Figures has been doing with their "Nickstarters".

As the fellow running it was just starting out there were a LOT of delays. At one point in the fall he'd offered to send partial shipments of the miniatures that were ready at that time and would send the rest along to others. I like to think of myself as a patient guy, and I dig the lines of minis this guy is trying to make available, and I'm aware for small guys like this it's more of a labour of love and that postage is a killer... So I said I'd wait until it was all ready.

In the new year I was snooping on their website and it looked like ALL off the range was now available for ordering... but I still had not received my stuff. So I sent an email asking if it was indeed available and when my stuff might ship. Got a reply stating that he'd be picking up the last batch of stuff that week and would send off my stuff presently - and even include a few bonus figures from the new Zimbalawi line! Hooray! The next day I received an email confirmation that the miniatures were indeed on the way. A confirmation from his webstore, mind you, not from a carrier with a tracking number or anything.

So I waiting in eager anticipation.

And waited.

AND waited.

After a couple months I thought I'd best get in touch as it seemed something had gone amiss. I had hoped that perhaps he'd simply forgot to mail it. I'd placed an order with Hasslefree miniatures around the same time, and they admitted they had simply forgot to post it... Such was not, apparently, the case with Mike Bravo. He said he'd sent it out and it simply must have been lost in the mail and he would send along a replacement.

In nearly 30 years of ordering stuff from England (and this includes pre-internet days when I would get a money order from the bank and mail off orders to companies I'd found out about in Wargames Illustrated advertisements) I don't think I've ever had an order simply disappear. packages have arrived bashed and broke. Packages have arrived missing items I ordered. Packages have arrived with the complete wrong order. Things have showed months after I ordered it. And on one or two occasions, businesses went out of business and never sent anything at all.  But I don't recall anything ever going completely missing forever? Maybe I've just been insanely lucky. How about you, dear reader? Has anything you ordered simply disappeared in the mail?

Anyway, the package finally arrived. It didn't include any bonus miniatures from the Zimbalawi line. It didn't even include the Iron Lady special figure that was supposed to come with any of the crowd-funded orders (it is listed in the webstore as an item that could be ordered - but was listed as Out of Stock when the replacement was shipped... so I'm guessing they were just out of them...). I did get a bunch of extra miniatures, though... so... If I ever order more (and I might,  not completely writing them off just yet!) and they have the Iron Lady in stock, I'll hit them up for one then...

Here are the first batch:

Some SAS types with M-16s - the pack was to include four, I got seven? I painted up four of them and then painted the other three. As I was finishing the last three I decided to repaint one of the berets green - so I could pass the figure off as a member of the Royal Marine Arctic and Mountain Warfare Cadre (which I think also made use of the M-16).

An assortment of modern irregular/insurgent types. Could be I.R.A...? Could be Tooting Popular Front...? Could be some really extreme football hooligans...?

I have a fair few more of both British and armed civvies. I'm not in any rush to get them done, though. I do really need to work on the Jet Bikes!!!

The pictures were taken between bouts of rain - I do like taking pictures outdoors in natural light. And I usually like taking pictures on overcast days when the light is more diffused. I'm also trying to figure out how to edit photos on my fancy new computer. I don't love the new photo program...

In other news...

I have also finished off two troops of Scottish Horse - which finishes off my Company of Scots Government/Covenanters for The Pikeman's Lament. I'll put them up in a separate post later today.

Street Zulus (and ONE BIG GERMAN!)

I finished a second battalion of Great War Germans the other night and while I was apinting for finish layers of base colours to dry, I knocked off these “Street Zulus”

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

“Street Zulus” from Casting Room Miniatures.

I picked these up some time last year thinking they might be fun to throw into a unit of regular Zulus (for the Anglo-Zulu war of 1879) just to see if anyone notices… or possibly use them in with  my modern African Militia or use them as a group of survivors in Mutants and Death Ray Guns or in some other sci-fi/timetravelling adventure…

I originally started painting these back in October when I was finishing up Zulu units to hopefully play The Men Who Would Be Kings. They were about 90% completed when I lost interest in them/go busy with other things – but they were so close to being complete I couldn’t bring myself to put them back into storage any time I was clearing off the workbench.

Actually when I grabbed these and decided to finish them up I realized one (the crouching fellow) was actually DONE – except for his base – I just hadn’t put on finish or did his base because I was waiting to do it along with the others. The others simply needed a feather or an ammo pouch to be finished up.

This is a 40mm Great War German that my firend John made. He was casting a bunch at my place as he’s in gypsy mode as all his casting supplies are locked away in a container somewhere and left a few for me to paint.

Backside of German.

I probably should have put a 28mm figure in there for size comparison...

Maybe someday I should get back to finishing MY OWN 40mm figures!

I hope I’ll get to finish up the 3rd battalion of (28mm) Great War Germans this evening… or maybe tomorrow…

Deniable Assets

I did get the three battalions I hope to paint this week based, and primed and gooped. While I was waiting for the goop to dry (or set…? Whatever…) I knocked off these thre modern operators from Spectre Miniatures

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

Three Operators from Spectre Miniatures.

I just picked these up last week from a local fellow that posted them on the Saskatoon Miniatures buy and sell facebook page. He apparently got them and some others and the Spectre Ops rules in a kickstarter. I’d seen Spectre Miniatures and thought I’d definitely like to check them out when I get back to working on modern subjects, so when these (and the others) showed up I couldn’t pass them up.

The proportions are very naturalistic – which makes them a lot slighter than most 28mm miniatures these days – and their poses are very dynamic. They look like they mean business. Unfortunately their gun barrels are very thin and probably won’t last – that long suppressor on the marksmans rifle has been bent 90° twice already – I’m sure the only thing holding on at this point is the layers of paint, primer, and finish… broken rifle barrels drive me CrAzY!? Especially ones that are so slight they simply cannot be repaired. I also got some SAS Jungle Operators and some GRU Spetznaz with these guys. (at least one of their rifle barrels is broken already! GRRRRRRR!!!)

Here they are next to some of the other modern figures I have…

I also got the Spectre Ops rule book with the figure lot. I don't know that I'll ever play them, but it's a fabulous book to look through - just for all the full-colour photos of all their pretty miniatures!

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

I’ve actually finished up the first of the three battalions of Germans for this week. I may or may not post them in the next day or two (I may just wait until the entire regiment is done and post them all together on the weekend…?).

I’m Back

These last few weeks have I’ve been in a bit of a existential crisis… It’s a long, boring story… The short version of the bits relevant to this blog and my hobby time in general is this: I have decided to recommit to The Vimy Project. I started the project over NINE YEARS AGO… and got a lot of stuff done… but then lost steam and let it slide… Two Years Ago I did some planning, thinking I’d try and get going on it again… but again got distracted by other things. As the one-year-to-go to the 100th anniversary of the battle came and went a few weeks back I got thinking about it (and other things going on in my life) and after a bit of back and forth decided to try and go ahead with it.

What this means for me at this point is basically I will have to DROP EVERYTHING and remain laser-focused on the project for the next 333 days – as I have a LOT to do! So I will not be buying any new games, reading any new rules, planning campaigns or building terrain or painting miniatures for anything other than the Great War. All the miniatures on the workbench I was working on for Lion Rampant and Dragon Rampant and A Song of Blades and Heroes and Frostgrave and En Garde! and 40K have been squirreled away in boxes for next year!

That’s not to say I won’t be PLAYING any other games at all… I’ll probably get in a few games of these other games over the year – in fact I really HOPE I do (and maybe even get to posting some game reports! But I won’t be planning campaigns or painting new stuff for them – If someone else organizes it, I’ll play with the toys I already have (which is quite a few, really..)

(oh, and I have pre-ordered a few new games – mostly Osprey ones - Men Who Would Be Kings, Pikeman’s Lament, Broken Legions, Horizon Wars, and others – but as they arrive, they’ll likely just be put on the shelf and I will try my very best to ignore them until next year…)

In the meantime I did finish up a few last items on the workbench over the last week or so, before I put everything away…

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega. Jules is from  Copplestone Castings, and Vincent is from a Wargames Foundry.

A couple of lads from Pulp Figures

Two middle eastern types from Reaper Miniatures.

The rest are from Games Workshop. They are © and ™ Games Workshop and painted by myself and posted here entirely without their permission. This is the very last of the Imperial Guard Jungle Fighters that I have… I may actually post some pictures of the whole group some time this week…

Heavy Bolters

“Doc”

Heavy Flamers

Sergeant and a couple of Grunts.

Signallers (the aerials broke off one, so I replaced them with a bit of wire and Green Stuff…)

Mike Bravo Miniatures (Part Two)

As promised, here are the remaining figures that arrived last week from Mike Bravo Miniatures.

See previous post here:

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

Also part of the 28mm State of Emergency line - 1979 Paramilitaries in Balaclavas. These figures are nice and beefy miniatures and should stand up to the abuse I give miniature figurines – solid weapons, easy to paint details.

Their backsides.

I thought they’d go well with the thugs in balaclavas from Killer B Games that I picked up to do double duty as either criminal thugs or Provos.

Here they are in a long line up of some of the other modern-ish thugs with firearms I have… (From left to right); Hasslefree MiniaturesThe Assault Group, Copplestone Castings (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Mike Bravo MiniaturesCopplestone Castings (Future Wars), Mike Bravo MiniaturesHasslefree MiniaturesMike Bravo MiniaturesVictory Force MiniaturesMike Bravo MiniaturesThe Assault Group.

I also picked up a pack of War Correspondents from their “Modern Miscellany” line.

Their backs.

Here is a comparison shot with a couple other TV reporters. The two on the left of the picture are from SuperFigs and the reporter without a camera operator on the right is from The Assault Group.

Another comparison shot of photo journalists (From left to right); Superfigs, Mike Bravo Miniatures, RAFM, Mike Bravo Miniatures, Black Cat Bases.

The war correspondents seem to be done by a different sculptor, they are stylistically quite different and considerably slighter than the State of Emergency figures.

Probably back to some Fantasy and Medieval stuff, considering what’s on my workbench at the moment…

Mike Bravo Miniatures (Part One)

…and now for something completely different…

Last week a package arrived from Mike Bravo Miniatures. Mike Bravo Miniatures is a new-ish company out of the UK that produces modern figures. I can’t even recall how I came across them… probably Wargame News and Terrain Blog...? At the time I placed my order they had only three packs available for pre-order so I ordered all three; British Infantry in Flak Vests and Paramilitaries in Balaclavas from their “State of Emergency” line and War Correspondents from their “Modern Miscellany” line.

From their blog and news page it looks like they’re planning some Cold War Americans, Modern Africans and IDF, and more 1979 State of Emergency figures.

Currently they are running their own crowd-funding campaign to get some more packs made for the State of Emergency line. I am seriously tempted to order a bunch more...

I had hoped to have them all painted up quickly, but I got busy with other things this last week, so here’s what I’ve painted so far.

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

I like these figures, they’re nice, beefy miniatures with fairly solid weapons, easy to paint details. (That being said, despite the very good packaging, on of the FN barrels did break off in transit… as the forestock was too slight for my wee drill to drill into I had to carv off the lower half of the forestock to the hand and drill into the hand to insert some wire for a new barrel and then rebuild the forestock with green stuff… It happens – seems to be the bane of all British modern troops of all manufacturers – whether armed with FNs or SA-80s - the barrels are prone to breaking off… can you tell which one it was?)

Back Side

Below are a few comparison shots of other modern British (and others armed with FNs)...

Here is the standing firing chap with a few standing firing squaddies from other manufacturers. From left to right - The Assault Group, Mongrel Miniatures, The Assault GroupMike Bravo MiniaturesMongrel Miniatures, Gripping Beast.

(Mongrel Miniatures are more or less out of print – they are, in theory, available from New Line Designs but they haven’t been in stock for years and most codes have been dropped from their catalogue - but people have them so I included a few)

Here is on of the partolling troopers with similar sorts from other manufacturers. From left to right - The Assault GroupGripping BeastMike Bravo MiniaturesMongrel Miniatures , The Assault Group.

Here is the kneeling/crouching Corporal with a few similar figures from other manufacturers. From left to right - The Assault Group, Mongrel Miniatures, Mike Bravo MiniaturesGripping BeastThe Assault Group

Here is the standing rifle up with the only other modern british soldier I could find with a rifle up – from the out-of-print Devil Dog Designs. DDD kindo f dwarfed all other moderns (except, perhaps, Victory Force Miniatures)

While the Mike Bravo Miniatures tend to be on the slightly beefier side, I don't think it's nearly enough to be concerned about. but I've never been that fussy about miniatures - once they're all on the table no one will notice the differences that are more apparent when you line them all up next to each other. I think differences in paint jobs an dbasing stand out far more than slight variations in scale...

On last pic – a  sneak peak at one of the figures from the 1979 Paramilitaries in Balaclavas pack – I should have the rest of these finished up in the next day or so…

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

The rest of the figures from Mike Bravo Miniatures. Then…? There are Dwarves and Seljuks, and Wizards and Hobbits and all manner of other figures crowding my painting table at the moment… perhaps it’s time for a clear off again…

All Over the Place

Another selection of odd and sundry bits…

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

American Police – these are old figures I stripped and repainted.  I think they were Grenadier Models made for Call of Cthulhu…? Or Gang Busters…? I probably used them for both!

Modern News Reporter from The Assault Group

Swell Doll (in her undergarments!) from Copplestone Castings

Assorted old Wizards – again, mostly old figures I have stripped and repainted. The Dwarf is an old Citadel Miniatures model… the others I’m not so sure about – the kneeling guy might be Grenadier…? The Dwarf and the guy with the owl are obviously from the same college – as their robes were both decorated with stars and moons…?

Thought I’d best get some Wizards done as Frostgrave will be out shortly and I thought it might be fun to try out with the kids…

Dwarves. The fellow is from Old Glory - he had a pole-arm originally, but I cut it off so he’d look like he just had a staff. The lass with the crossbow is from West Wind Productions (I think… I got it in a trade…)

More medieval-ish fantasy figures – the woman with the hawk (it's hard to see - it's half hidden by her hair) is from RAFM and the fancy fellow is form Mega Miniatures.

Assorted armed peasants from Crusader Miniatures

And finally… a peasant from I-don’t-know-where and a rogue-ish type that I think might be a pre-slotta-base era Citadel miniature… actually I think the peasant might also be as well… I’m not sure. I’ve had the both over 25 years and recently stripped and just now repainted them…

I’ve also been updating the 28mm Victorian Era Gallery with some Victorian Characters of fact and fiction (mostly fiction… mostly Victorian HORROR Fiction…) and I may add a few more this week – so check it out.

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

More odd bits and whatnots… I seem to be kind of just painting whatever I fancy whenever I get a chance…
