The Lion in the Storm (Fic Requests)
01. Leon and Lightning's first date.
----
In the end, it took a lot longer than anyone would have expected. Lightning had been in Johto for nearly nine months, knowing Leon for seven of those, before they finally actually went out together. She'd just returned to Goldenrod with Serah and Hope, and they'd slipped back into their routine of sparring, when he suddenly asked her if she'd like to go and get coffee after they cleaned up. She had stared for a moment in surprise, having long since thought that he and Aerith were an item, before she nodded. What was she thinking? Just friends could have coffee anytime they wanted.
So why, as he paid for their drinks as they prepared to leave the little cafe he'd found on an out of the way street, did she speak up?
"Was this a date?" Leon simply turned back to face her, and smirked a little bit, but enough to make her feel the heat rising to her cheeks.
"I'd like to think so."
Somehow, that first date turned into many more as the months passed on. Lightning would never be sure just how, though.

02. New Years: Leon and Lightning bust the lame NY party, either to go spar or some other excuse (that they don't end up doing, anyways)
----
Lightning never said little could surprise her. Back on Pulse, there was a lot that could sneak up on a person and kill them. Here, in Johto, there was less of the killing but a lot more of the sneaking up on. Like Leon had just done, glancing over his shoulder at Aerith as he spoke.
"Spar. Outside in five minutes." Lightning watched him vanish into the crowd, then ducked away from the party as Teddie and Yuffie made a fuss at the punch bowl, prompting Aerith and Rise to go and and do damage control. Outside it was brisk, but Lightning had her coat on in seconds, glad she had worn her regular boots instead of the heeled ones that Rise had tried to force her into along with the dress she had agreed too. With no sign of Leon just outside the Pokemon Center, Lightning stopped and looked up at the sky. It was mostly clear, with the stars and moon visible under some light snow clouds promising flurries later on.
But the snow ended up giving her a warning as Leon walked towards her, his hands deep in his coat pockets. It only took one look at him to know that the spar was off, and she fell into step beside him on the way back to the Hotel. Theirs was a comfortable silence, and it didn't end as they both took seats on the bench just outside the Hotel, staring out at the snow-covered city and the stars above. That was how Hope and Rise found them after the party, sitting shoulder to shoulder in the cold, just enjoying one anothers company away from the noise of the crowds as the new year was rung in.

03. Typical lame, cutesy shoujo manga kind of stuff--they wind up sharing a scarf, or an umbrella, or ACCIDENTAL KISS or what have you, except the rest of Team Shota sees it...and NEVER LET THEM LIVE IT DOWN.
-----
Lightning's second winter in Johto ended up being much colder than the first, weather wise. Oh, everyone she loved was here; Hope, Serah, Rise, Leon, hell, even Snow and Fang. But even the warmth that they brought couldn't chase off the chill of the weather as she walked through Blackthorn City, having just come from the Ice Path. Her scarf was still in her bag as she brought up the rear of Team Shota while they walked towards the town ahead, everyone talking of how much they wanted to get to the Pokecenter and get warm again, and she had to smile.
Her mind was so focused on them that she didn't notice Leon walk up beside her until she felt warmth wrap around her neck and looked up. He was in the process of unwrapping his longer scarf from his neck, pulling her in close and giving her half of the warm material. He kept his eyes on his face, even as her neck began to warm, and she was halfway to lifting her hand to his cheek when a sudden catcall from further down the road jolted them from the moment. It only took one sidelong glance at the group to know that neither of them would live it down, what with Snow and Fang whistling, Vanille, Serah, and Rise giggling and smiling happily, and Hope apparently torn between running to lunge at Leon or grinning with the girls.
Still, despite this, neither Lightning nor Leon unwrapped the scarf from the other's neck, and instead walked past the group still connected to each other by only a length of blue grey cloth.
