Gaynor Bagnall
Gaynor’s main area of research is culture, consumption and identity, within this she has an interest in social and cultural capital, culture-led and urban regeneration, social and cultural life in cities, and audiences, museums and heritage. She has researched and published widely on these topics, with work ranging from an investigation into the performativity of museum audiences, to an exploration of what it means to belong ‘locally’ in a global world. Currently, she is co-directing a Hefce funded research project, Engaging Communities through the Arts, which is evaluating the role that culture-led regeneration can have on community engagement and community cohesion. Gaynor is a University of Salford graduate who completed both her first degree and her PhD in Sociology at Salford, before moving to Liverpool John Moores University where she lectured in the Sociology of Consumption. Gaynor returned to Salford in 2006.
