still not a post about Distant Worlds/Expo! Well, it can be. A bit. Or at least, it could if I didn't feel like rambling about graphics and nano procrastination, lolol.
I hit 7500 words on nano last night! I know I know, it's still shite compared to loads of other people (ie: literally everyone else I know who's doing nano XD), but never mind. it just refuses to leave my head! I love this~
Anyway, in a spate of desperate procrastination (I'm going to a write-in in Huddersfield later, so I HAS LEGITIMATE EXCUSES, HONEST) I've been playing with my Crowley screencaps. I spent my procrastination time yesterday capping an episode - season 5 episode 20, The Devil You Know, to be precise. I am also cursing GIMP for being shite (I JUST WANT TO CREATE NEW LAYERS THAT AREN'T JUST COLOURS OR TRANSPARENCIES, JESUS GIMP). I am further cursing Supernatural's rapid decline to bloody dark filming all over again, and lamenting the loss of all the beautiful colouring methods I used to use for that buttload of season 1 and 2 icons I made back in the days of yore.
Is anyone on my flist familiar with GIMP? Do you know if there's an alternative to
New Adjustment Layer from Photoshop (I used CS2 back then)? It is honestly driving me mental. I never realised how much I relied on that function in the past. :/ The only way I can see past it is to use New Layer From Visible then just adjust the properties on that one. But I'm not sure if it'll do the same thing. ARGH. I hate you, GIMP.
Anyway, after struggling with colouring a cap properly - I just CANNOT get rid of the pixelly black bits in the background, what is with that!? - I've managed to make myself an icon from it that I'm SORT OF satisfied with *points to post icon* And that's only because there is minimal background showing. I can still see the stupid greeny-black pixelly bits though, ARRRGH.
Alas, I cannot show you the before cap, because I overwrote it. But this is the monstrosity (I only say that about the colouring, because SWEET JESUS, THAT IS AN ATTRACTIVE FACE RIGHT THERE, MR SHEPPARD) as it stands now (and as it is, I did a fair bit of work once I moved the thing to the icon-size);

Also don't get me started on the size. VLC refused to apply my enforced size settings - I like to go for 1000px width and then just enforce the height proportionally, but it just kept all of them at their natural size. GRR. 623x352 is NOT BIG ENOUGH, THANKS VLC. *kicks it*
/problems of a screencapper
Either way, how happy am I to finally have some Crowley stuff I've made myself! Yay, I don't have to worry about trying to remember where the hell I found an icon! :D
OH ALSO: hallo to anyone from
spn_crowley~ <3 it is awesome to have you around. Please to be telling me if you have tumblr also, then we can follow each other mutually and spray Crowley/Sheppard love ALL OVER THE UNIVERSE :D /end random XMFC reference
