PSA: LARP

LARP GMs,
Not all of us have a closet full of period costume. Next time you have a game for which you want the players to wear regency-era Sorry, early Victorian outfits, you might want to either a) mention it in the game write-up or b) let people know with more than three weeks to spare.

Anyone know how to do cut-rate fancy 1830's-style dress in a short period of time?

LARPing

I've been saying for months that I want to run a LARP or two in my area. Now that Intercon is out of the way, I have some free time.

Now, you see, I'm not big on boffers (for the simple reason that I am small and weak, and boffers hurt when they hit me), and popular as vampire games are, coming into the middle of a campaign LARP is kind of stressful. So I want to run some one shot theater-style games here.

I was thinking of starting out with:

The Free Animals' Republic of MacDonald Presents
the Trial of the Big Bad Wolf,
to be Immediately Followed By His Execution, in Honor of Our First Anniversary.

however, I'm willing (and planning) to run other things.

Poll #1151647 I wanna be loved by you, just you and nobody else but you.

If I were to run a LARP, this/these day(s) would be best

Sat, March 15
2(20.0%)
Sun, March 16
0(0.0%)
Sat, March 22
2(20.0%)
Sun, March 23
1(10.0%)
Sat, March 29
3(30.0%)
Sun, March 30
1(10.0%)
Another date I will suggest in the comments
1(10.0%)

The LARP I am most interested in seeing you run is

10 Bad LARPs in 100 Bad Minutes (the Original Version)
3(23.1%)
The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf
3(23.1%)
All The President's Zombies
4(30.8%)
Tempus Frangit
3(23.1%)
Some other game, that I have right here and want to tell you about!
0(0.0%)

All games are two hours long. Keep in mind, I need between 5-12 people for all of the games (12 for 10 Bad, 5-12 for The Trial, 8 for All the President's Zombies, and 10 for Tempus Frangit). I can scale up or down, but I'd like to have at least 8 people who want to play.

If you know anyone who might be interested in these sorts of LARPs and isn't on my flist, talk to them, point them and/or point them in this direction! I'd love to meet new people and have them in my games.

Just a note, but I'm doing three runs of 10 Bad LARPs in 100 Bad Minutes: The Radio Edit at Kublacon (May 23-26). It's a version of 10 Bad that takes out all of the really racy and/or offensive and/or horirble meta games.

I'm a nerd, yeah

I want a copy of "A Night in Lonesome October" by Roger Zelazny.

I must have lost my copy, which is irritating me, because I remember thinking "That would make a great LARP." I really want to find another copy, sit down and sketch out some LARP ideas. Maybe toss them at some of the people I know who go to Intercon. (I'm not sure I'm really secure enough in my writing/GM skills to actually run it, but I'd like to try and make a go of SOMETHING, get a few ideas down.)

Gah.

(no subject)

I'm back in Cali after an amazing weekend in Massachusetts. Technically I got back Monday afternoon, but I've been far too exhausted to do much of anything, including posting in my LJ. But it was a great weekend-- I knew I'd missed these guys, but I hadn't realized near how much. I'm sort of thinking that after I finish the SJSU program, I'll see if I can find a job out there. It would be nice... But that's a while yet (and first I have to try not to fail my classes, which is something else entirely.)

Also! arcangelbeth, sariel_di, and all other IN-types! Intercon H has the theme "Heaven and Hell". I have heard rumors that there will be an In Nomine game based off the Divus Ex rules. How much would that rock? You guys should come!

Lots of stuff

Happy day! So, I wasn't scheduled for work today, and slept in until about noon, which was bliss. I'm working a good number of hours this week, for which I must thank my boss profusely, ditz though he might be.

Figured out where the local post office is, which is cool, and within walking distance, but hidden on out of the way sidestreet. Had to go pick up a package-- which turned out to be comixologist's V-Day present for me-- a copy of "I, Lucifer", by Glen Duncan. I've only just started it, but it's hilarious and I love it. This makes me feel like a slacker, since I haven't sent her her present yet, but it's brownies, so they need to be overnighted anyway.

jhyanmar has conned me into another Exalted game, and has manged to drag comixologist into the insanity too. (Okay, so, technically linenose is at fault, but hey.) This could be very very cool, or totally terrifying. A pair of Dragon-Blooded twins-- fraternal twins, one Earth and the other Air. I hope this works out.

Yet another thing-- for the LARPers and costume people on my f-list, can anyone give me suggestions on how to do Victorian era dress on a budget, with mucho time constraints? Intercon LARPs are starting to come out with character hints, and my first one requires "height of fashion" for Victorian era.

MA People, especially those going to intercon!

I need some help. You see, it's almost impossible to get into MA at a reasonable hour from Cali, so I ended up making my trip from Thursday to Monday.

You see my problem? I kinda... need crash space Thursday night and/or a ride to the Intercon hotel, if anyone has space. Last year, natbudin was kind enough to help me out, but he's going to the Intercon hotel on Thursday this time around, for ConCom stuff, I think.

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to get to Wellesley from the hotel in Chelmsford-- or if anyone at the hotel will be going in that direction? I probably have crash space for Sunday night, but I need to GET there. >.
