Rootfly is a free, open-source software application for minirhizotron image analysis. It enables researchers to quickly and easily measure root length, diameter, color, birth, and death rates. The software is user-friendly and requires minimal mouse clicks to operate, and all experiment data is stored in a single RFY file. Automated image processing algorithms are also included to reduce manual effort.
