Live text is written roleplaying during an assigned time slot. Synchronous play-by-post is another way of putting it, and I suggest reading my previous post on PbP for further considerations on what I will talk about here: aspects of live text and suggestions.
This format works well for people who express themselves better through writing, who feel somewhat overwhelmed or exhausted by video/audio or audio-only online play and can’t meet physically, or whose schedules and circumstances wouldn’t allow complete presence in a session through speech yet can type small bursts of messages over a couple hours – a more common situation than one would believe.
