Hey, flist! Christmas was... well, honestly, best I could have hoped for: getting ridiculously ill on my birthday, said illness peaking on Christmas Day, meaning I slept through the whole thing, and if at any point I was awake and aware enough to be sad about all the things that normally make me sad on Christmas, I have no recollection of it, because this illness apparently comes with short-term memory loss. \o? :D? :D? (Seriously, though, I hate Christmas. Being sick has sucked so much, but also I'm ridiculously grateful for the excuse to not have to concentrate on things or go anywhere or be particularly cheerful.)

Anyway, while I am ridiculously Grinchy about Christmas, I am NOT Grinchy about Yuletide. I was seriously lucky this year, too -- two stories! One from each of the two fandoms I wanted most! And they are FABULOUS.

The first one's The Many Shades of Tea (SyFy's Alice, Alice/Hatter) and it is ridiculously lovely, you guys. Hatter's POV, with backstory as well as the events of the miniseries, and -- okay, I don't know how to describe it without spoiling Alice for those of you who haven't seen it? Which you NEED TO, because it is awesome, but also because you need to read this fic! If you HAVE seen Alice, please go read this IMMEDIATELY, because the voices are A++ spot-on, and the writing's just really gorgeous. I read it while I was in bed and kept doing that thing you do when you're reading in bed and something is just so good that you actually close it and just smile for a moment and maybe hide your face under the covers for a bit. (That's something people do, right? RIGHT.)

The second gift I received was Night Swimming (Marvel Her-Oes, gen) and and and YOU GUYS. You guys, I didn't expect anyone to write this, because there is literally no fic for it. Except for this one, so it's a good thing it's ACTUALLY PERFECT. I don't think you need to be familiar with the canon for this one -- passing familiarity with Marvel would help, obviously, but Her-Oes itself is basically a high school AU starring awesome Marvel ladies. :D? :D? This fic has camping, swimming, developing friendship, and a fight with a tiger, which, like. What more do you need? Absolutely nothing, because seriously, this is perfect.

Aaaaaand more recs! What with the whole illness/keeping weird hours stuff, I've spent like 90% of my waking hours since Boxing Day working through Yuletide fic. I've still got a lot of comics, mythology, and Community stuff to go through, and haven't even touched Elementary yet, plus I always end up missing stuff on the fandoms list, soooo I may end up doing another rec post. :D? Unsurprisingly, the two I got are my favourites (I'm not just saying that, either, they were WRITTEN FOR ME and have MY FAVOURITE PEOPLE AND THINGS AND TROPES, seriously, I am the happiest camper in the galaxy ♥) but there is an awful lot of awesome stuff out there, so! Recs!

Abraham's Daughter

Abraham's Daughter -- I may or may not be slightly obsessed with this song, and this story is REALLY AWESOME and goes with it so well! The story, what comes after, and elements of storytelling and family and migration and augh this is good, you guys.

Addams Family

Lobelia and Aconite -- A boy, a girl, an open grave. ♥

Amazing Spider-Man

Heart-Shaped Bruise -- I'm not gonna lie, I went away from this movie shipping absolutely everything, but I've been pining for good, long, Peter/Flash fic with Flash obsessing, and this is exactly what I've been craving.

Captain Marvel

Your Kiss Is On My List -- Carol/Steve, awwww yeah! This is adorable and hot all at the same time.

Classical Greece and Rome History & Literature RPF

Cui Dono Lepidum Novum Libellum -- MODERN DAY CATULLUS COLLEGE AU that is also COMPLETELY FABULOUS.

Closing Time

Closing Time, Then and Now -- fic about Leonard Cohen songs, YES PLEASE. *_____* Despite liking this a lot, I'm struggling to describe why. I think mostly it just felt very much like the song does to me? And it's a very conversational narrative, which is something I adore, and seemed very Cohen-y to me. Anyway, I can't explain things, READ IT.

Community

Sunday Dinners: A Survey -- I love Dreamatorium fic so much, and domestic stuff, and first-time stuff, and this is A++ Troy/Annie/Abed that fits that bill. :DDD

DCU

The Traitors Club (Or: A Conversation About Betrayal and Apple Pie) -- Batman and Hawkgirl, talking shit out! I have such a crush on Shayera Hol, ydek.

Disney Princesses

Fa Mulan and the Triwizard Tournament Conundrum -- EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN. And perfect.

Dr. Horrible

ChaosMasterBilly's Blog of Things -- Dr. Horrible origin story, plus the author ACTUALLY RECORDED A SONG, this is so awesome. ♥___♥

Equus malus -- Bad Horse origin story, oh my gosh. :D

Greek and Roman Mythology

Mutating the Labyrinth -- Ariadne, Theseus, and the minotaur, sci-fi style.

Hobbes and Bacon

Attack Chickens, Children, and Other Hazards of Suburban Life -- This is SO ADORABLE, ahhhh! :D

"Worked okay so far?" -- This is just REALLY GREAT, GO READ IT (why do I do rec posts, how do words work, idk)

Justice League and Justice League Unlimited

I'm Sorry, Master Bruce, But Your Rubber Ducky is in Another Bathtub -- lololol Batman surprising people in the bathtub. :DDD

Rub-a-Dub-Dub (A Bunch of Capes in the Tub) -- BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE of Batman surprising people in the bathtub. If you're like BUT I JUST READ ONE WITH THAT PREMISE, ISN'T THAT ENOUGH, I mean, that is a question that answers itself, and that answer is NEVER. Read them both! They are full of lols that will keep you warm the whole winter.

Marvel

Strange Aeons -- Just putting this under Marvel for simplicity's sake, but it's Fantastic Four, JiM, and Young Avengers. Brain-hurty time travel conundrums at their finest, and it's funny and heartbreaking all at once.

Mary Poppins/Magic School Bus

Encounters in the Night -- I'm not even going to talk about this one, because if you see "Mary Poppins/Magic School Bus" and need more convincing, you don't deserve to read this. (...uh. It's not, like, Mary Poppins/Magic School Bus as a pairing. The slash is like... you know. A crossover slash? THESE TWO FANDOMS oh my gosh is it bedtime yet, I AM SO SORRY FOR THE INCOHERENCE)

The Phantom Tollbooth

visible cities -- Milo on another adventure. The beginning, in particular, is really great. I mean, so's the rest, but it has exactly the same feel as the beginning of the book. And I was grinning my face off at the list of names at the end.

Ultimate Spider-Man

The Adventures of Jackpot and Zombie Girl -- MJ and Gwen decide to become superheroes; Jess hates her life. Basically. :D These are three of my favourite characters, and this is one of my favourite comics, and I'm maybe a little picky about them, and I still thought this was perfect, so.

this city misses you already -- Peter/Johnny fix-it fic, awwwww yeah. ♥

xkcd 1110 - Click and Drag

Bigger Than You Think -- Interactive fiction that is seriously SO MUCH FUN. I'm, uh, not actually done yet, but whatever, I am having a blast.

You Belong With Me

You Belong With Her -- CHEER CAPTAIN/NARRATOR, YESSSSSSSS :D :D :DDDDDDDD

Young Avengers

Through the Mines -- I love Kate, and I love Eli, and I really, really love Kate/Eli, and this is some really fucking great Kate/Eli. ♥

All right, that's enough for now, I think! You all have a lot of reading to do! Get to it! >:(

:D?
