H&P are one of Reuzer’s longest-standing clients, and when they approached us with a challenge around rig move safety, we knew this was an important project.

Rig moves create a unique set of hazards: once a rig is dismantled, familiar safety controls disappear—anchor points, handrails, guardrails and even sections of flooring. As a result, the risk of falls from height increases dramatically, and industry data shows that many injuries occur during these transitions.

H&P asked us to create a 12-minute animated training video focused on these hazards and the behaviours that help mitigate them. The aim was to build something realistic, relevant and genuinely useful to the workforce—not just a tick-box exercise.

Real Incidents, Real Learning

To build a strong foundation, H&P shared several detailed case studies relating to falls from height during rig moves. These real-world events gave our team the insight needed to understand the most common and critical scenarios. We selected three case studies as the backbone of the content and used them to shape training that felt authentic, specific and grounded in reality.

This approach allowed us to highlight where controls break down, why incidents often happen during rig moves and what practical steps workers can take to protect themselves and each other.

Using the Hierarchy of Controls to Bring Clarity

Once the high-risk scenarios were identified, we structured the content using the hierarchy of controls. This allowed us to break down each situation and explore how it should be approached in practice—from eliminating the hazard entirely where possible, through to PPE as a last line of defence.

The video also incorporated clear dos and don’ts, helping crews recognise when certain actions are acceptable and when they pose heightened danger. These discussion points were reinforced through built-in pause moments, encouraging teams to stop, reflect and explore scenarios together.

High-Quality 3D Visuals Rooted in Reality

H&P generously supplied real photos, footage and reference materials from rig moves across their operations. This gave our creative team everything needed to build a highly accurate 3D environment, featuring H&P’s rigs, equipment and personnel.

The final animation blended lifelike 3D scenes with supportive 2D elements, creating a training experience that feels both polished and practical. Because the visuals reflect real rigs and real people, the workforce connects with the content immediately—it feels like their world, not a generic safety video.

A Strong Collaboration from Start to Finish

This was a genuinely collaborative project. H&P provided exceptional access, insight and support, allowing us to shape a narrative that hit every requirement. Our creative team produced a detailed storyboard, refined the flow, and brought the full story to life with high production values.

The final video was delivered in English and then translated into Arabic, with additional languages planned for the future. Feedback from the client was outstanding—described as “brilliant”, with senior leaders saying they “absolutely loved it.”

For us, it’s a perfect example of training done properly: taking time to understand the problem, respecting the complexity of the work and ultimately delivering a solution that improves safety in a meaningful way.
