
Spike Boydell
Retired, Former Prof of Built Environment, & Founding Director UTS: Asia-Pacific Centre for Complex Real Property Rights
Spike is a property rights specialist and property theorist with a focus on the political economy of land and indigenous land rights in the South Pacific.
Spike was appointed Professor of the Built Environment, in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building of the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia in 2006. As Professor of the Built Environment, he took a leading role in developing the research directions and achievements of the construction, property, urban planning and project management disciplines.
In 2009 Spike established the UTS: Asia-Pacific Centre for Complex Real Property Rights, which is a UTS centre for enterprise, research and community service. As foundation director Spike led a transdisciplinary team that specialised in land tenure and property rights research, advocacy, public policy development and consultancy.
Now retired, Spike still holds an honorary position with the University of the South Pacific as an adjunct Professor in the School of Land Management & Development (where he was Head from 1998-2006). He also supports equity for customary landowners in their dealings with government and investors as a co-founder of www.customarylandsolutions.com
