First of all, hi. :) This is my first year participating in Yuletide, and I'm really excited about it. I've done a whole bunch of other exchanges in the past, but this one is all new and shiny. So yay. :)

About me: I have very wide tastes, so I'm generally very easy to please. Gen, slash, femslash, het, poly are all a-OK with me (I have a special place in my heart for gen and poly, but what I'm really interested in are relationships between people, romantic or not, so, you know, full freedom on this point, I guess. (Ratings are the same--I enjoy anything from G to NC-17)

Style-wise, I have a preference for either intricate and plotty (angst is fine) or light-hearted and funny, but I'm not really picky on this point either.

Tropes\/Kinks
Favourites include: fake\/pretend relationship, friends-to-lovers, found family (favourite!), friendship, honest communication, time-travel, what-if\/alternate dimension, soulbonds, mind-reading, sensation play, light bondage, teasing and wish-fulfillment.

Things I don't like can generally be put under \"abuse\" (sexual or not), such as:
rape, non-con, physical abuse (especially of children), stockholm syndrome, unsafe BDSM etc. (note: I don't mind these as backstory\/setting\/part of a world, but I generally don't like fics focused on these issues or, worse, using abuse-elements as kinks). As for kinks (as long as its SSC), my only real no-nos are scat and watersports.

1. Shelter (Zach, Gabe, Cody, Shaun)
Shelter is the ultimate feel good movie for me in the category \"found family\", so anything in that verse would make me really happy. Friendship! Love! Family! \\o\/

2. Wicked (Elphaba, Glinda, Fyero)
Anything and everything. Extra bonus for something centered around Elphaba and Glinda. Missing scene from the uni days? Post-musical? What-if?

3. Dollhouse (Topher, Sierra, Victor, Whiskey)
I love Dollhouse, but I find Echo annoying. And Paul even more so. It seems like such a waste to have them as the main characters\/pairing of the show when the minor characters are so much more interesting<\/i>. So, minor character fic! Tohper, Sierra, Victor and Whiskey are my favourites.

4. The Internship (Lyle, Neha, Mr. Chetty)
Something funny would be ideal for this prompt, I think. Maybe something post-movie? Or a missing scene? Neha and Lyle discovering a shared fandom? Mr Chetty being awesome? Feel free to insert meta. I love meta.

5. Friends (Chandler)
Something Chandler-centric (not Chandler\/Monica if possible). Friendship fic would be idea here. Wacky adventures! (Or, you know, some Joey\/Chandler is always hot :))

6. Legally Blonde (Elle, Vivian, Enid)
Something that focuses on the female characters. Because they are awesome. And funny. And deserve fic of their own without it being centered around trying to catch a man. Elle&Vivian BFFs.

The street is quiet when Ryan pulls up at the right address and turns off the engine. The house in question is made out of red brick and set in a garden so overgrown that Ryan almost gets eaten by the hedge when he makes his way through the gate. He opens the front door, walks inside and does a quick scan of the interior. There is glass on the floor in the living room, a few windows broken in their frames, debris and dust everywhere.

\u201cWhat do you think?\u201d

Brendon shows up from around a corner, hands in his pockets, looking tense. Ryan looks around again. The walls in the living room are splattered with dark brown, contrasting sharply with linoleum floors in a horrible shade of eggshell.

\u201cI\u2019m thinking that the people who lived here probably shot their interior decorator,\u201d Ryan says with a smirk. \u201cAnd if they didn\u2019t, they should have.\u201d

Brendon smiles. \u201cJust wait until you see the bathrooms.\u201d

\u201cThat bad?\u201d

\u201cRose pink, orange and more brown,\u201d Brendon says, shuddering. \u201cNo bodies in the tub, though, so that\u2019s a plus.\u201d

They walk around the house together. It\u2019s two stories, four bedrooms. Or, what used to be four bedrooms\u2014the wall between two of the upstairs ones looks like it\u2019s been on a violent date with a sledge hammer.

\u201cYeah, I know, it\u2019s pretty bad,\u201d Brendon says, carefully stepping around a pile of drywall. Ryan nods thoughtfully.

\u201cSo, why this place?\u201d

Brendon takes his hand and leads him back downstairs.

\u201cCome see the garden,\u201d he says. \u201cThere\u2019s a greenhouse in the back. It\u2019s shaded by the trees now, but we could use it to house beetle colonies. Or ants. A private lab kind of thing. Maybe even have a couple of beehives down by the hedge.\u201d

The garden at the back of the house is just as overgrown as the one in front. They enter through a door in the kitchen, stepping into what Ryan guesses used to be a vegetable patch.

\u201cMy mom grows flowers,\u201d Brendon says. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t know the traditional meanings, but she chose one for each of us when we were born and always says that happy flowers make a happy home. The first thing I noticed when I came here were the dandelions.\u201d

Ryan nods, smiles. The dandelions in question cover the entire lawn. Yellow symbols of faithfulness, happiness and love, growing in grass so high it nearly reaches Ryan\u2019s knees. There are other things as well: blossoming clover; a small grove of apple trees; honeysuckle growing wild all over the hedge separating the garden from the neighbours\u2019. Brendon leads him around the corner to the side of the house, and Ryan stops short, breath catching in his throat.

The entire wall is covered in ivy.

\u201cI know this house needs a lot of work,\u201d Brendon says. \u201cAnd it\u2019ll probably take us forever to fix it up\u2014especially with how many hours we put in at work\u2014but. This is what I want. And I thought of a lot of different ways to do this\u2014to ask you\u2014and then this wall was right here, and it kind of says everything I want to say, so...\u201d He trails off and waves his hand in the general direction of the mass of green growing across the bricks. \u201cWhat do you think?\u201d

Ryan looks at the wall. It really is a perfect metaphor. The ivy is thick and gleaming, beautiful. It climbs freely all the way to the roof, but doesn\u2019t look like it\u2019s trying to swallow the house. Instead, it makes the house look stronger, red brick shining clearly through the leaves, and Ryan thinks that this\u2014this life he never expected to have\u2014is just full of things he never knew were missing.

\u201cYes,\u201d he says, feeling a smile spread on his face and turning into a laugh when Brendon attacks him, pulling Ryan into his arms and kissing him hard enough for both of them to lose their balance for a moment.

\u201cSeriously?\u201d

\u201cYeah,\u201d Ryan repeats, moving a hand to Brendon\u2019s face and angling it up for another kiss while pulling Brendon closer. \u201cI\u2019d love to.\u201d

Brendon makes a small, almost pained sound and breaks the kiss momentarily, burying his face in Ryan\u2019s neck. \u201cI\u2019m gonna make you so happy,\u201d he vows, tightening his grip until all air is gone from Ryan\u2019s lungs. \u201cFuck, you just wait. I\u2019ll make you think you walk on clouds.\u201d

Ryan smiles, hugs Brendon back, too many words filling him up and finding none at all at the same time. He takes Brendon\u2019s hand, leads him over to the wall and picks two leaves\u2014one for each of them. His own is large enough to wrap twice around his fourth finger, and when he looks down at Brendon\u2019s hand, Brendon\u2019s fiddling with the stem of the leaf, trying to make a knot.

\u201cHere, let me.\u201d

Brendon holds out his hand, and together, they make a loop for the stem to run through, tugging it tight. Brendon weaves the fingers of their left hands together, pulls Ryan close and tilts his face up into a kiss that feels brand new and familiar all at once.

Ryan runs his free hand up the length of Brendon\u2019s spine, pulls him a little closer still.

Words feel quite unnecessary after that.

Instead, Lancelot is brought back body, soul and memories intact, and once the whole wtaf??? moment has passed and he's dried off from the lake, he realises a) that he's pretty much at Morgana's mercy, being still weak and trapped in her house, and b) that Morgana, for some reason, thinks that he doesn't have his memories (or isn't quite himself) and that he's a mindless, faithful slave of hers.

This worries Lancelot. A lot. The news that Arthur and Gwen are about to get married doesn't make his heart leap with joy either, if he's perfectly honest. He pretends to himself that it does, though. Stiff upper lip of the loyal knight and all that.

So, first thing that Lancelot does when he's set free (or sent on his dastardly mission to Camelot, if you're Morgana) is sneak into Camelot and find Merlin. Who is overjoyed. But also worried when Lancelot explains where he's been and that Morgana apparently thinks he's some sort of evil twin of himself. He isn't, is he? Can Merlin somehow check this with his nifty magic?

Said and done, Merlin digs out the spell with Gaius's help and behold! Lancelot is a-ok! Joy all around! Time to tell the others! Except Arthur is really busy with the whole wedding thing, and Lancelot doesn't want to be a bother (and is secretly scared of seeing Gwen again), yada yada yada, so they agree that they will wait until after the wedding. (Though Gwaine might find out. Gwaine always finds out.)

Cue wedding day. Resplendent couple etc. etc. And in the middle of the festivities, Lancelot is somehow outed, which leads to much shock and impromptu Important Meetings at the round table. Where Merlin explains that Lancelot is fine, no really, Gaius checked him out (which everyone buys, because they always do), but that Morgana has an Evil Plan (TM). Betrayed feelings and confusion all around, leading to a Big Fight between Arthur and Merlin on the subject of keeping secrets\/you are always busy these days and where do I even fit in now that you're MARRIED, you great git? Which of course ends in some kind of awkward, tender moment where they Say Sweet Things But Disguise Them As Insults and goofily beam at each other.

IN THE MEANTIME, Gwen corners Lancelot, because BACK FROM THE DEAD! And didn't tell her! Blah, blah, noble knightly reasons with implied declarations of True Love. Which Gwen doesn't want anything to do with, because she's utterly fed up with people knowing what is best for her (hinting at very stressful wedding planning, with a side of Arthur and all the nobles in Camelot casually and obliviously trampling on everything she's<\/i> wanted by assuming that she doesn't know the ways of royals even though she's been serving them for years.

And this is actually where the main part of the story takes off, which deals with the time AFTER the wedding, with Arthur and Gwen trying to make their fairy tale romance (with basically no real interaction) into a marriage, Gwen facing the difficulties of going from servant to queen, Lancelot realising his feelings for Gwen (or hers for him) have not gone away just because she's married now, and Merlin trying to find his own place in the whole clusterfuck. (aka complicated relationships and three-dimensional characters trying to find their way! dreams vs. reality! complicated feelings! love and friendship! loyalty and honour! also, Morgana still thinks Lancelot is her minion! Does Lancelot become a spy? Do they reveal Agraivain's sinister plots? What does this mean for everything?)

I.e. big, epic ensemble fic with Adventures and Destiny and all the issues collected for four seasons. With Merlin\/Arthur and Gwen\/Lancelot endgame dynamics, but nicely handled and taking lots of time to develop (absolutely no non-con bracelets around! Except possibly to fool Morgana, with a lot of nice, confused moments of \"is this me\/her or the bracelet talking?\" :)))

Also, politics! Court! Possibly Merlin in the feather hat. Knights being awesome! \\o\/

Now, universe, please make this fic pop into existence. Pretty please?

AND it's looking like it's going to be a really good season. Older contestants for one thing (which I think always good), at least among the guys, and I haven't seen anyone who looks actually bad<\/i> yet. (Possibly Whitney, I think she might be the weakest one. And Cyrus, but with him, I expected it, and he, at least, is absolutely AMAZING at his own style).

Favourite performances last night: Lindsay and Cole's Paso and Will and Amelia's cat dance. Those were fab. The contemporary numbers were really good too, if slightly forgettable.

Least favourite performances: Whitney and Chenon's samba. Mostly because I thought she was really bad in it considering it's supposed to be her speciality. And at the very bottom of the barrel, we find the alcoholic hip-hop and the costumes for Alexa's and Daniel's jazz routine (which I think might actually put them in the bottom. which I don't want, because I love Daniel and his awesome australian accent!)

Also, in a fit of nostalgia, I re-read Time to Dance<\/i><\/a> (aka the Bandom\/SYTYCD fusion I wrote a couple of years back). Hunger Games\/Bandom crossovers\/fusions. I wants them. Especially the following two:

1) Brendon is reaped from District 11 for the Xth Hunger Games. His mentor is Pete, who managed to win his year mainly by being very camera-manipulation savvy. So, since Brendon has practically no skills with wich to survive the arena (he's an apple picker. he can climb trees and such, but not much more than that, has never handled a weapon etc) except for his personality and good looks, Pete decides that he needs an alliance. And it just so happens that one of the Careers from District 2 is trying VERY HARD to keep his eyes away during training week. So Brendon is tasked with befriending Spencer and, ideally, to seduce him, which does not please Spencer's mentor Zack in the slightest. Once the games start, Spencer and Brendon somehow DO end up working together, as well as forming an unlikely alliance with the guys from District 5 (Dallon) and 3 (Ian). Hijinks, confused feelings and heaps of UST ensue. Also, the arena is a completely hellish construction built in caves *inside* an active volcano. \\o\/

2) Brendon and Spencer are both mentors (from different districts) for the Xth Hunger Games. Brendon is fresh out of his own games and isn't handling the whole mentoring thing very well, while Spencer is completely in love with him in secret (and has been since seeing Brendon in the arena--possibly Spencer even sent him something in there in spite of Brendon being from a different district) but is desperately trying to keep his distance since loving people is a huge liability when the Capitol has oh so many uses for you that it would like to coerce you into (which makes Spencer even more desperate to help Brendon, who is really too pretty for his own good AND has a whole family back home ripe for the picking). Secret love! Desperate sex! H\/C! \\o\/
