Calculate Scale of a Model
Calculator for the scale and the sizes of a three-dimensional model. Length, width and height change according to the scale. The surface area changes with the scale squared, the volume changes with the scale to the power of three.

The units for the original size and the model size are: mm = millimeters, cm = centimeters, m = meters, in = inches, ft = feet, yd = yards
Example: a model has the scale one to thirty. Then the surcafe area scale is one to nine hundred, the volume scale is one to twenty-seven thousand. A length of six meters at the original has a length of twenty centimeters at the model. With a model of one to one hundred, one centimeter in the model becomes one meter in the original. One square centimeter becomes ten thousand square centimeters, which is one square meter. One cubic centimeter becomes one million cubic centimeters, which is one cubic meter.
Model making is the construction of three-dimensional objects that are smaller than the things they are supposed to represent, but have the same proportions and sometimes the same colors. This can be done for private pleasure or for fun, but also has applications in industry and technology. In architecture and town planning, models are often used to get an impression of the buildings to be built. In technology, functional models are used that have certain functions of the objects to be built. Such models are often made for vehicles and airplanes. Aerodynamic properties such as air resistance can also be predicted well using models.
