Automatic Counter
Counter which automatically adds a certain value in a certain time span. This creates a rhythm in which the counter regularly increases by adding the value. The time span must be at least one second. Time span and value are allowed to have three decimal places. The regular addition occures as long as the page is opened and active. When the device goes to standby, the counter stops counting. When loading new or pressing Reset, the counter goes back to zero. Pressing Stop stops the counter; if you press Start again later, it continues counting from the previously reached value.
Example: if something costs 30 € or $ per hour, is costs 50 cents per minute or 5 cents every 6 seconds. When entering 6 seconds for the time span and 0.05 for the value, you can watch the costs in € or $ increase.
There are very few things that grow consistently, regularly, and unchangingly, but time is one of them. At least in our familiar environment, where relativistic effects like time dilation are very weak. Everything natural that is measured over time eventually changes its intensity. Artificial quantities, such as money in this example, can be configured to be constant over time. But even with these, reality will eventually interfere. If, for example, the cost per hour relates to working time, because people obviously can't work nonstop. Machines often last longer, but they also eventually require maintenance, repairs, or they overheat. The counter, on the other hand, continues to count regardless of the actual circumstances, but also will finally stop some time. With a smartphone, this can happen very quickly, as this often turns off the display after a short time. If you want to use the counter for a longer period of time, you can extend this time span in the smartphone's settings.
Such a counter is helpful for many applications to get an estimate of quantities that grow over time.
