Of Daemons and Deathwing.

Not a 'proper' post tonight, just a quick summary of what I have been doing over the last few days.

As you may have read in the earlier posts I am away this weekend for some gaming. With this in mind I have been putting together the second Contemptor for the Deathwing Zone Mortalis force and the Plague Drones for the Nurgle Daemon army (for regular 40k). I also decided to add another Herald to the force using the Warhammer Nurgle Lord figure.

Now my objective was to get them to a point I can game with them, as such I will be going back and doing bits and pieces on them later. For now though I can spend the rest of my time (I leave Thursday morning) getting things like army lists written up, packing boxes/foam sorted, packing etc.

Daemons:

The Plague Drones required a lot of GS due to all of the gaps. I also wanted one to carry an Instrument of Chaos, which as I wasn't using riders was a bit tricky. In the end I mounted one as a replacement to the Drones horn. I need to clean up the GS yet.

The Herald is a brute. Even without the rock he is standing on he would tower over regular troops.

I am undecided on the Heralds weapon, I've not glued the arms in place as I may replace the axe with a scythe (as per the model I saw at WHW). It would mean trying to scratch build a scythe and I do kinda like the axe a lot, I will have to mull it over some more...

Deathwing:

Second Contemptor is now built. Was a bitch, had to get the dremell out twice to remove a shed load of resin. More on this when I do the 'proper' update on it.

As usual all of the weapons are magnetised. I even magnetised the gun options mounted inside the fist. Made a bit of a mistake when I bought the CCW though, when asked which type I wanted I said claw (as it looks cooler) not realising that the weapon options I wanted (storm bolter & heavy flamer) came with the other CCW. I may have to scratch build something.

After this weekend I'll go back to these and finish them off fully and do fuller updates on them.

My priorities after the weekend will be the Mekboy Junka commission and painting the Nurgle Daemons I had previously started (Plaguebearers & Nurglings).

Deathwing - 1

So for a change from the usual fair I am working on some Marines. As mentioned once or twice previously I aim to have a 1000 point Deathwing force for Zone Mortalis games. The intantion is that this force will be purely for ZM, eventually (once I have sorted a ZM board out) the bases will be done to match the floor tiles of the board.

In the short term I am just building these. I am away for a weekend later this month and I need to get this force (and more Daemons) built in time for it. As such don't expect any paint to appear on these just yet.

I started putting the Termies together a while back but only now with the first Contemptor assembled have I bothered to grab some shots and do a post on RD.

The force will break down as:

Belial (obviously)
Deathwing Knight squad
Deathwing Squad (using Dark Vengeance Termies)
Contemptor Dread w. Multi Melta & CCW
Contemptor Mortis Dread w. x2  Plasma Cannon

The Dark Vengeance squad have been put together. I still need to fill gaps, clean a few things up etc but that can wait till the other units are built. I did a couple of small conversions...

The Dark Vengeance squad includes two identical figures. I did a quick arm & storm bolter change as well as a couple of cosmetic chances so that they weren't completely identical.

The Assault Cannon termie had a weapon swap with the Ass Cannon being replaced with a Plasma Cannon. Something which should prove nasty in ZM.

The Deathwing Knights (and Belial) are pretty much straight out of the DW boxset. Still need to finish their builds as they lack certain things (like heads).

The first Contemptor is now built. The Mortis dread packs two Plasma Cannon. So the force as a whole packs three, with the amount of Termies I will face in the ZM games these will prove very handy.

Magnetised weapons,both for Weapon Destroyed results and because after
a couple of games I might decide to try a different loadout.

As you can see I used plenty of addition purity seals and brass etch on the Contemptor.

I prefer the look of brass etch icons over plastic ones from GW as they are far thinner that the thick plastic ones. On the other hand I hate using it as it is always a bitch to get it shaped so it fits and gluing it in place is a nightmare.

Next up is washing, cleaning up and assembling the second Contemptor.

Recalcitrant Daze - New Toys...Sedition Wars, Dark Angels & Daemons

Well as work on the Karrier tracks continues I thought I'd do a post on a few things which have arrived lately.


1.Sedition Wars.

I went in for the Biohazard Kickstarter with some extra bits. Not actually done anything with it yet other than opening the box and thinking 'yup' before closing it again.


2. Papa Nurgle.

Reinforcements for the Nurgle Deamons arrived in the form of a Nurgling box and a Plaguebearer box. Some 'bearers will become Icon Bearers in case I want to use them in games. Some Nurglings will go towards the GUO base.


3. Dark Angels (or rather Deathwing)

I picked up a Dark Angels Codex and a Deathwing Command Boxset. That box combined with some Dark Vengeance Termies and a couple of Contemptor Dreads I picked up a while ago will form my 1000 point Zone Mortalis army. That should scratch my Dark Angel itch.


That's about it to be honest. Not much of an update I admit but I thought i'd get something up as it'll be another couple of days before I do an update on the Karrier. Resin tracks can be a bitch to fit.
