Multimedia mining has proved to be a successful approach for extracting hidden knowledge from huge collections of structured digital data stored in databases. Also it is an inter disciplinary endeavor that draws upon expertise in multimedia retrieval, classification and data mining. Managing and mining web multimedia database is a framework that manages different types of data potentially represented in a wide diversity of formats on a wide array of media sources. It provides support for multimedia data types, and facilitate for creation, storage, access, managing and control of a multimedia database. The purpose of this paper is to provide overview of multimedia mining, categorizing the web multimedia database with various data mining techniques. This article also represents the important concepts of the multimedia databases on the web and how these databases have to managed and mined to extract patterns and trends.

Each multimedia data hosted a web has quality. Generally these qualities are of four types, viz., higher, high, medium and low. The assessment of multimedia quality is one of the interesting and challenging tasks nowadays. In this paper we present effective technique to assess multimedia quality based on quality parameter of the multimedia data. The proposed technique to assess the multimedia quality involves the following approaches. 1) Quality assessment through quartile measure. 2) Quality assessment through majority voting rules. The quartile measure assessment technique is applied for multimedia data whose quality parameters are in the same quartile range. The majority voting rule applied for multimedia data whose quality parameters are in different quartile range. The results are analyzed and compared for the both approaches.

This work demonstrates identifying and organizing a domain specific web multimedia data into different categories using Data mining classification techniques based on metadata of considered web multimedia data. Using extracted metadata, web multimedia data are automatically classified into different categories by applying data mining classification algorithms such as Decision Tree (DT) and K-Nearest Neighbor classification (KNN) model. The classification results are compared and analyzed as a step in the process of knowledge discovery from web multimedia data. Keywords—Web Multimedia Mining, Web Multimedia Metadata, Decision Tree Algorithm, k-Nearest Neighbor Algorithm.

The WWW (World Wide Web) provides a simple and effective means for users to retrieve multimedia data on the Internet. Nowadays web multimedia data are used in a much more natural and mature way. Rapid increase in the huge amount of multimedia data over the internet, there is emerging trend to study, modeling and retrieve, and mining the multimedia data from the internet. Due to complex and unstructured nature of the web multimedia data, it is difficult for mining and processing effectively. To overcome from this problem, this paper proposes a new web multimedia data model for presenting web multimedia data components integrating large amounts of data of different types such as text, images, video and audio, with its metadata values for mining and processing web multimedia data effectively.

To perform this operation we have different kinds of searching techniques. These all searching algorithms work only on data, which are previously sorted. An efficient algorithm is required to make searching algorithm fast and efficient. This paper presents a new sorting algorithm named as "Index Selection Sorting Algorithm (ISSA)". This ISSA is designed to perform sorting quickly and easily and also efficient as existing algorithms in sorting.

The study of the associations between audio and video contents has numerous important application... more The study of the associations between audio and video contents has numerous important applications in the fields of multimedia mining and information retrieval. Many works are implemented to correlate audio and video contents based on signal processing. This work represents audio visual correlation using metadata of audio and video as a leading role. The proposed method focuses on the web videos which exhibit a broad range of structural and semantic relationships between audio and video contents. To identify such relationships, it is necessary to undergo correlation analysis of audio and video contents. In this work, attempts are made to correlate audio and video contents of Entertainments, Sports and News categories web videos effectively and efficiently, and also correlation coefficient are calculated. The experimental procedures and results on the correlation of audio-video sequences by considering audio spectrogram frequency value to corresponding video bitrate value is described using different methods.

Given a small number of user-labeled pixels, the rest of the image is segmented automatically by a Growcut method. User can observe the segmentation evolution and guide the algorithm with human input where the segmentation is difficult to compute. In the areas, where the segmentation is reliably computed automatically no additional user effort is required. Results of segmenting endoscopic images are presented.

In this paper we propose the normalized cuts method for image segmentation problem, which is based on Graph Theory. These algorithms treat an image pixel as a node of graph, and consider segmentation as a graph partitioning problem. The Normalized Cuts algorithm measures both the total dissimilarity between the different groups as well as the total similarity within the groups. The pixel value of gray scale and color Images are considered for clustering dissimilarity and similarity group. The optimal solution of splitting points is easily computed by solving a generalized eigenvalue problem. The results of the proposed method are encouraging.
