First of all, big, big thanks to all of you on my FList who sent me good thoughts and comments for our day in court.
Unfortunately, unlike the first instance, *this* court decided that Walter is also to be held responsible for his accident - at least in part. Their reasoning is that if he'd stuck to driving on the right side with his bike, the accident *probably* wouldn't have happened. They more or less ignored the fact that the car was going *much* too fast, for Walter to have a chance to react.
*SIGH*
Well, we will be told the verdict - or rather "decision", as they called it - on August 5th. If they decide to divide it up into 70-30 (that means that 70 % of the guilt goes to the driver, 30 % to Walter) then we'll probably go into revision - all the way up to Supreme Court... >.< More delay.
I've read through all your suggestions and ideas on my "what shall I do with my life" post. Thank you! I still haven't managed to distill it down to something useful - but I'm working on it. I'll keep you posted. :)
Can you imagine? I actually dusted off my *bike* this week? O.o And for the first time in *five* years I actually *used* it? >.> I figured that, as long as the weather is so nice, I might as well get used to it again. While I was still living in Munich, I used to do a *lot* of bike riding - much easier to get through the city, and you're flexible, where time and space is concerned. No waiting on buses or trams, and no looking for a parking space. But when I moved to the country, I stopped. Having to go *uphill* for hours, just to get from the grocery store to our home, wasn't my idea of fun. So for the last... let me think about that one... 21 years (oh Gods!) I haven't used a bike - except for that one single ride five years ago. >.>
So why now? Well, it saves gas, for one. I *used* to like doing it. It's good for my health and weight. And the roads here abouts are mostly nice and flat, with good bike riding paths. And it only takes me an hour to get to the post office and back - I hope to shorten that time as I get better at it.
It still feels strange - I've lost a lot of my bike-savvy... used to be really good and coordinated, now I feel like a fumbling idiot on the bike. But that's getting better with every trip that I take. So watch for me in the next Tour de France... *GGG*
The rest? As usual. Writing. Working. Working. Writing.
Trying to keep up my daughter's good spirits. She's terribly worried that she won't be able to handle the language, and the school, and everything being new. But I think once she's settled in, she'll find that it's easier than she thinks. And from what I'm gathering of her posts on Facebook, the family is helping her a lot. They seem to be quite nice and considerate. So once Cilli manages to lose the feeling that she won't be able to meet expectations (which no one has - except for her), she'll settle right in. At least I know she's already seen her first kangaroos. *gg*
Anything else? *ponders*
Oskar has managed to kill the toaster again. So I'm going to have to buy a new one. *headdesk* This time I *really* have to keep putting it away, or we'll end up buying toasters every few months or so... That cat has got to be the *wierdest* cat that I have ever had!
Weather is great! Hot! Sunny! Humid today. Perfect Raven weather! ^____^ I'd really rather sit outside to work, but Cilli has my laptop with her in Australia, and I'm not about to schlep my tower out into the sun... So I have to settle for just eating my lunch out on the bench on my patio. :)
Heh! I distinctly remember Sister Anna Maria telling someone (Not me) "It's a desk. Not a chair." As long as it holds your stuff and a computer, you'll be fine.

Thank you! I'm very, very happy with it! :)
Getting there. It's a bit of a long process, but she's feeling better already...
It wouldn't hold my weight, should I try to sit on it, but for my papers and the cat it's perfect. :)
And it's *big*! Finally enough room for all my stuff... ^^
