Half an hour ago, my daughter finally made it home!
She was so tired, that she went straight to bed. ^^ So all talk and unpacking and re-acquainting will have to wait until tomorrow!
But she and Grandpa made it safely down here - even though it took over six hours for a distance that you can usually do in four. The snow still hasn't stopped and roads are just inundated with the stuff. So slow driving was the order of the day. Better safe, than sorry...
Very strange to know she's in her room again. Sleeping. At home. Will be there when I wake up tomorrow...
I hope your monday is as bright and warm as mine? It's really starting to look like summer is finally here. Whether it's to stay, we're not sure, though according to yesterday's weather folklore (it was "Siebenschläfer" - "dormouse" day) we're supposed to have the same weather as yesterday for the next seven weeks. Since it was warm, sunny, pleasant and completely rain-less, I'm hoping that this year, the folklore is right. ^___^
My sister took pics of the girls at our family dinner (posted with her kind permission).
Isn't Cilli lovely? *sigh* She's grown into such a lovely young lady. :) Now all we have to do is get through puberty, and we'll be fine... *coughabitbitchytheyoungladycough*
Winding down on the preparations for Australia. I think we've cleared up the money issue. Also got mail from her host mother about what Cilli is supposed to take with her, clothes-wise. I think we *will* need both the suitcase and the trolley. And I have to clear up the laptop for her, so she has everything functioning well. Then at least we can keep in touch. I'm trying to convince her to give LJ or Blogspot a try, so that she can keep a journal. We'll see...
Doing some writing some today. It's not precisely flowing, but I'm getting words down - on computer? On monitor? On hard-drive? What the Gods do you say to that these days? >.> Since I don't write 'on paper' anymore. We'll see whether I can manage the 1000 that I want to. I can *see* the scene in my head, only the words occasionally elude me... *pokes muse*
We finally got the feedback from the High School Program organization ... Cilli is going to be in Perth! :) In Cottesloe, Perth, to be exact. We've already googled it and looked at it on the map - even seen the house on Google View. Very cool. Not too far from the beach, just like she wanted.
And her best friend - who is also going to Australia - is also going to be in Perth.
I'm not so sure whether that is a good thing, because I'm worried that they will end up spending too much time talking German together, but maybe it's far enough apart so that they can't see each other too often. And Cilli's host family has three kids (13, 17 and 18 years old), so I'm sure they'll be happy to include Cilli in *their* teenage activities and claim so much of her time, that she won't have a chance to go off and be 'German' too often. ^___^
We'll be getting in touch with the host family this weekend by mail, and maybe by phone... I'm looking forward to seeing Cilli's reaction. :)
Poor kid - she's going to have to clean up her room this weekend! I'm not going to look at that mess for five months! >.> *And* my mother's Au Pair is going to stay with me for a few weeks, and Cilli's room will be free, so I'm putting her in there.
Heh! I distinctly remember Sister Anna Maria telling someone (Not me) "It's a desk. Not a chair." As long as it holds your stuff and a computer, you'll be fine.

Thank you! I'm very, very happy with it! :)
Getting there. It's a bit of a long process, but she's feeling better already...
It wouldn't hold my weight, should I try to sit on it, but for my papers and the cat it's perfect. :)
And it's *big*! Finally enough room for all my stuff... ^^
