Let&#8217;s learn how to use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The latest version of moOde can be installed and flashed onto an SD card straight from the Raspberry Pi Imager under the &#8220;Media player OS&#8221; section. Once installed, the moOde audio player can be configured from its web interface.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s start with the actual installation tutorial to get moOde running on our Raspberry Pi. You&#8217;ll need at least 8 GB. You can <a href=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/best-sd-card-raspberry-pi\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3947\">find my SD card benchmark here<\/a> (or <a href=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/amz\/sd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">get the best one on Amazon<\/a>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Headphones\/AUX Speakers<\/strong> <strong>(optional)<\/strong>: These are not required but would be useful to test our audio player as the Pi&#8217;s AUX can be set as an output port.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apart from this, <strong>a local network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet-based) would be required to access moOde <\/strong>as it can be operated through a user-friendly web interface from your favorite browser! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In terms of software requirements, you will need the latest version of Raspberry Pi Imager or any other alternative installed on your system. I would recommend using the former as we can install the latest version of the moOde through a single click. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is all for the requirements. Now that we are squared away with that, let\u2019s get started with the tutorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MoOde Installation and Setup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This section covers all of the steps required to install and set up the moOde Audio Player on our Raspberry Pi. The steps are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Flash the MoOde installation image onto an SD Card<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MoOde first run and initial setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s dive into each step in detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flash MoOde onto an SD Card<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We will use the Raspberry Pi Imager to set up our SD Card and install the latest version of moOde audio player on it. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First, pick a fresh SD card or format an existing one. For that, all we need to do is enable SSH and set up the Wi-Fi credentials, which can be done through the Pi Imager&#8217;s advanced options.<br>Click <strong>NEXT<\/strong>. When asked to &#8216;apply OS customisation settings,&#8217; choose <strong>Edit Settings<\/strong>.<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"157\" class=\"wp-image-22241\" style=\"width: 600px;\" src=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/rpi-imager-os-custom.jpg\" alt=\"raspberry pi imager os customisation settings\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/rpi-imager-os-custom.jpg 708w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/rpi-imager-os-custom-300x78.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hostname: <\/strong>Select the first option and set a hostname of your choice. You can directly access your Pi within your local network through this hostname.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SSH and Username\/Password: <\/strong>Select the Enable SSH option and click the password authentication option. Then set the username and password credentials of your choice. These will be the credentials to log into your Pi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wi-Fi credentials<\/strong>: You will enter your Wi-Fi credentials in the <strong>Set up wireless LAN <\/strong>section. Select that option and enter the credentials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the above configurations are done, <strong>press the SAVE button at the bottom<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To begin writing, choose <strong>Yes<\/strong> and <strong>Yes<\/strong> again to confirm. <br>It will take a few minutes to complete so be patient. Once the process is complete, you can eject the SD card from your system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this, we have successfully set up our SD card for the Raspberry Pi. Next, we will get moOde up and running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MoOde First Run and Initial Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that moOde has been successfully flashed onto the SD card, we can start using it on the Raspberry Pi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Inserting the SD card into the Pi and First Boot<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Insert your newly set up SD card into your Raspberry Pi and then power on the Pi. Wait a few seconds for the Raspberry Pi to boot up. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next, let&#8217;s verify that the Pi is connected to our local network. For that, you can use any network monitoring software of your choice. I use the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fing.com\/app\/\">Fing app<\/a><\/strong> on my phone for this. You should see your device listed in the available devices section.<br><br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"752\" class=\"wp-image-21554\" style=\"width: 700px\" src=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/available_devices_on_the_network.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/available_devices_on_the_network.jpg 800w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/available_devices_on_the_network-300x282.jpg 300w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/available_devices_on_the_network-768x722.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have verified that it has indeed connected to the network, we are ready to access the moOde audio player&#8217;s web interface!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accessing the Web Interface for the First Time<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accessing the web interface for moOde is quite simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open your favorite browser and then type in the hostname that you set up for your Pi into the address bar (<strong>in my case, it&#8217;s raspberrypi.local<\/strong>).<br>Alternatively, you can enter its <a href=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/find-current-ip-raspberry-pi\/\">local IP address<\/a> (e.g., <em>192.168.1.69<\/em>). <br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"353\" class=\"wp-image-21555\" style=\"width: 700px\" src=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web_interface_access_url.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web_interface_access_url.png 800w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web_interface_access_url-300x132.png 300w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/web_interface_access_url-768x339.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you hit enter, voil\u00e0! Some tracks are already a part of the moOde&#8217;s default playlist. If you have a Pi that is connected to an HDMI source with speakers, you can press on any track and it will start playing through your display&#8217;s speakers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are using a headless set-up, don&#8217;t worry. We will see how to test this setup in the next section, where we will learn how to change the audio output port and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exploring Additional Configurations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this section, we will be exploring some of the available configuration options for moOde. Specifically, I am planning to explore these:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Audio Output Setup<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spotify, Bluetooth, and Airplay Integration<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adding a New Remotely Hosted Library<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, let&#8217;s dive into each of these configuration options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Audio Output Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By default, the default output port is set to Pi&#8217;s HDMI interface. However, we can configure them to work for different output sources. This section helps you learn how to do just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For this, go to the Audio section in the menu at the top right (<strong>m >> Configure >> Audio<\/strong>). <br>Here you&#8217;ll find the Audio Output section, which defaults to the Pi&#8217;s HDMI port.<br><br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1151\" class=\"wp-image-21558\" style=\"width: 700px\" src=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/access_audio_section-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/access_audio_section-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/access_audio_section-300x135.jpg 300w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/access_audio_section-1024x460.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/access_audio_section-768x345.jpg 768w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/access_audio_section-1536x690.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/access_audio_section-2048x921.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can set the final output device using the <strong>Output device <\/strong>dropdown. Let&#8217;s set it to the Pi&#8217;s Headphone jack so that we can test our headless interface as well.<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"315\" class=\"wp-image-21559\" style=\"width: 700px\" src=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/moode_audio_output_headphone_jack_set.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/moode_audio_output_headphone_jack_set.png 800w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/moode_audio_output_headphone_jack_set-300x118.png 300w, https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/moode_audio_output_headphone_jack_set-768x302.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Note: if you need to use the <a href=\"https:\/\/raspberrytips.com\/raspberry-pi-speaker\/\">headphone jack<\/a>, but it isn&#8217;t appearing, you&#8217;ll have to add it. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>m > Configure > System<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set Integrated audio to <strong>Firmware mode (Legacy)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restart: <strong>m > Power > Restart<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go back to m<strong> > Configure > Audio<\/strong> and hit <strong>Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now you can set Output device to <strong>Pi Headphone jack<\/strong> and Volume type to <strong>Hardware<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition to these basic configurations, you can even connect USB DACs and other I2S devices (like a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hifiberry.com\/shop\/boards\/dac2-pro\/\">HiFiBerry DAC<\/a>) which are custom connectors for audio-specific applications on the Raspberry Pi.
