Okay I didn't really post to show off shoes I've had for like well over a year. But I have some other cool news!

Other than that, senior year of uni is kicking my ass and my anxiety and stress is at a high, but I really need to get it under control. I've been skipping too many classes.

So yep, that's my update for now. Oh, and if you're following me on tumblr and I haven't followed you back yet, message me there!

Regarding this and this that I wrote just a bit ago...

I'm really glad I became more in tune with my racial identity by this age because I get really uncomfortable when I get the impression that a person of color is trying to abstain from either talking about race or conforming to a typical white progressive approach to race (i.e. usually not REALLY getting it) in a way that generally makes them appear not to be (a part of) The Problem. I'm not going to make myself uncomfortable about race just because my white friends are. I get that this is easier said than done, especially if you're in predominantly white progressive environments and have mostly white friends, but it's really hard to be so stuck in it that you actually start believing it yourself. It's just fucked up.


As much as one would like to think that it's better to be a person of color in progressive/liberal white spaces than conservative ones, it can be shitty too. Really shitty. And I'm saying this as someone who has spent most of their life in white spaces in regards to education and groups of friends so I know what the fuck I'm talking about. Love them dearly but I just cannot with them sometimes. In some ways I may have gotten too used to being in a predominantly black environment at my historically black university for the past couple of years, but now that I'm back to a progressive/white liberal academic environment like all my schooling before my university back home, things are just starting to get to me.

SO, I haven't been posting too much this month despite checking LJ/my flist every day. I'm still trying to look for a better way to download my photos to my mac because this canon camera software just ain't cutting it. If you have any suggestions help me out!

Without a bunch of my pics it's going to be hard to make it seem like things are interesting XD But yeah, I'm still LOVING London even though I'm hardly doing something exciting everyday. The school system and structure here is so different, I srsly haven't opened a word document until the other day. IDK how they stand all the free time; it's lovely but it's driving me crazy!

In other news:

+ As you all know this past month was Black History Month in the states and it's always a good time for reflection (though this should really be happening all year). radiovolume has a GREAT collab of BHMM related posts at ontd_political, ranging from srs bsns to fun so click here to check them out!

+ I really think I should do another vlog post...I haven't done one in MONTHS.

+ Oscars happened. Yep. That's about all I have to say XD It was pretty predictable and I'm happy about some of the winners but this is what it can really be summed up to:



+ AH! Almost forgot, I'm going to Greece for a week in April. Athens to be specific. Have any of you been there before? My flatmates convinced me to go because that is not one of the places I'd generally go out of my way to go to but now I'm excited.

Whatever, gonna keep on stanning. Oh and I'm going to go to an event in which the cast of this new gen of Skins answers questions and will be showing ~exclusive~ clips! It's on Thursday somewhere in central London and OMG CANNOT WAIT.

I'm glad to hear that a lot of people are enjoying season 5/gen 3 of Skins thus far, because I am too! But of course I'm a masochist so I've been reading some stray comments on e4's site, youtube (lololol), and tumblr about some others' opinions of this gen and I'm pretty much...well, this is what I look like reading them:

+ So I decided to make the pic from ze birthday post my new default. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK? :3 I've had the last one since the Arctic Monkeys concert nearly a year ago (I can't believe it's been so long since that night of awesomeness), so I figure it's time for a change.

+ WHO ELSE IS SEEING HP AT MIDNIGHT!? I know I am. I'm getting excited despite the fact that it'll be riddled with flaws. Oh well, I'm there to be entertained and show off my awesome HP outfit...which includes my new wand. BTW, the character wand I got was Ginny's, and although I'm not much of a Ginny fan, her wand just went very well with, er, me? It's pretty, you'll see.

+ I went to a blogging workshop today. I'm in the school of communications at my uni (print journalism major, jsyk), and they're actually pretty on it with preparing us for the ~future~, so I'm going to make a new blog (prob with wordpress) for academic and "professional" reasons. OH HI, FUTURE. WHY SO DAUNTING? D:

I'm having a horrible time thinking of a title for it, however. I'm going to incorporate my name somehow but that's pretty much all I know. And nothing too cliche. Meh, I'll figure it out.
