For those who were on my flist last year/earlier this year, you may remember how much trouble I went through getting this shit together and how delayed I was thanks to some epic incompetence, but today we finally get started and I'm nervous but excited. Cool story, I know.

Oh, and my first day back was busy but good. And I really want a bike now. Everybody in this neighborhood in DC (Columbia Heights/Adams Morgan) has a fucking bike.

This week has been a good week. Earlier I mentioned getting an A on my Principles of Speech thing but now:

Got an A on my sociology research paper

Got a 104.5/100 on my Algebra II exam. UM, HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS. THIS BROUGHT MY GRADE UP A WHOLE LETTER GRADE AND OMG IF I DO WELL ON THE FINAL THEN I WON'T GET A D/HAVE TO RETAKE THE COURSE. GHIOAEWGHEIOGWHWRIOH. IOHGIOAWEGHIWOGHIOGHIRHGWARET.

My final grade in French 4 this semester: A :D Oh and fanks robots_dream for the French edit!

Honestly, for such a shitty stressful week it's going pretty well. Almost...too well. Now if I can just get through next Wednesday, the only thing I have to worry about is my Sociology final!

My presentation on French New Wave cinema went well today, but I had technical difficulties and wasn't able to show the video clips I had up from youtube with sound D: My research really made me want to see the movie La Chinoise (1967) though. It's about a group of middle class French kids who start their own radical Maoist group. Bored, privileged kids turning into ~radicals~ is a really annoying concept but from the clips I've seen it's super interesting stylistically and some of the people in it are hot. Also, lololol the song in this trailer:



I'm convinced that the whole movie is secretly pretty tongue in cheek but yeah, idk, Goddard (the director) is a weird guy.

+ I had a good fashion week last week. Well, that's all relative I guess because I like my fashion XP These are from last week. I don't look any different now. Oh and in the pic where it looks like I'm not wearing pants? Yeah, I'm actually wearing a yellow mini. It's just invisible~



+ Mmmk I should really go do something productive (?) now. Oh, btw, I did a mini-snape!fic rant and I love that the first person to comment is yunghustlaz's enemy. Lolz.

I just submitted a perspective editorial to my school newspaper. I'm hoping they don't give me the shaft like last time but we'll see. (Lolz if you see a tiny error don't mention it. I'll feel fail and there are editors for that sooo yeah just shut up.)

Yep, er, also, I'm going to be pretty MIA for the next...well until the end of the semester tbh. A few posts here and there and I'll check my flist unlike last week but there will likely be a lack of picspams and the like until I go home on the 6th.

Nothing new has been up with me besides figuring out a way to pass algebra ii, working on projects in every fucking class, and watching doctor who so yeah. Oh and, er, who made this page for me in fan history wiki? I mean, nothing is really there and all I've done is fic and piss of snapefen so I'm just like...huh?

Yeah that hiatus didn't work but OMG today was such a big test day and I'm glad it's over. I'm seeing a musical in NYC this weekend with my aunt. That should be fun. And I can read more of Can't Find My Way Home, America in the Great Stoned Age 1945-2000 on the train, huzzah.



I got bored and decided to used my tablet. Random drawing is random, lolz, but I'm glad my sketchy as fuck drawing style turned out just as sketchy as it is on paper. Har har.

Blah, had class today. And by that I mean I took a math test and quite possibly bombed it. Good news is that she takes the best of 4/5 tests so this can be erased from, er, everything.

+ I'm going to go to Pentagon City mall for the first time...which is odd since I've been living in DC for school for about a year and a half now. First time for everything I guess. TBH I'm just concerned about the food court because I'm FAMISHED.

+ In light of that lulzy WIZARDS DIDN'T WEAR TROUSERS OMG PLZ WARN FOR TROUSERS wank, I made this post. ~Participate~ I need to get out of my shitty mood.

+ Randomly at like...2am last night I woke up with a start and realized THAT I HAVE A JOHN MAYER ALBUM ON MY ITUNES AND I LIKE SOME OF THE SONGS FROM IT. I'm close to deleting most of them save for a couple of the songs, lolz. + I liked this.

+ I feel like getting some really amazing Mexican food...but for that I'd have to be back home in LA. *Sigh*

+ I talk to my parents everyday on the phone. It was only until recently that I found out that this wasn't typical.

I can't believe the decade is over! What a clusterfuck this decade has been. In this decade I ended elementary school, started Middle and High school, graduated from HS, and started college, so basically this whole decade has made a huge impact on my life thus far. A decade ago tonight I was watching Nickelodeon. Does anybody remember that special they had with a bunch of different kids talking about their hopes and expectations for the future since the ~new millennium~ began. I wonder how cynical those kids are now...lolz sad but srsly, it's a thought. ANYWAY, HOPE NEXT DECADE HAS MORE UPS THAN DOWNS IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS!

I love films and tv media and all that jazz of course but I'm more of a musically inclined person (I play piano, I love going to concerts, etc etc etc) so I tend to have the cosmic horn for musicians more than actors. Are you guys the same or are some of you more into acting and tend to be more attracted to actors?

So today's Hilltop brought on another bucket of fail. This time in the "He Said, She said" section, in which a girl and a guy write their perspectives on a single topic. This issue...wait for it...INTERRACIAL DATING!



What the guy started off with was bad enough:

Black men should not date white women. Yes, I said it. However I do think it's acceptable for black women to date white men. I know it's a little weird but let me explain my logic...

At first I stopped there. The rest looked just as stupid. But I kept reading and was pretty, "...what the fuck ever" about it. He went on about how there are all kinds of different beautiful black women, especially at Howard, which is pretty fucking obvs: we have some of the prettiest people in the world here, I swear. He then went on to say this:

I understand that by being a black male in college I am already a statistical anomaly. I am not supposed to be here. That is why I will never date a white woman. I feel that it is my duty as one of the few upstanding black males to date within my race. There are too many great women for me to date inside the race. On the contrary, I do not feel that black women should be held to the same standard as black men in this particular situation. Let's be honest...black women are the [sic] light years ahead of the men in our communities. There are more black women in executive leadership roles than ever. However, for all their success there are very few black males who are on the same plane as them, so sometimes they resort to dating white men or other races. I understand. But for black men we have no excuse to date outside of the race."

You know, it's possible to make an observation about the fact that it's hard to find as many black men in the same educational/occupational positions as black women...and I understand feeling like there are a lot of available, educated black women for black men to choose from. But when people feel the need to go out of their way to just...ugh. I get what he's saying but it still rubs me the wrong way.

But the GIRL'S thing, OMG:

I have no interest whatsoever in dating white men. I'm not racist, nor do I care about who other people chose to date or have babies with. But for me and my house, dating white may result in a fight.

Okay, whatever...

The idea of being intimate with a descendant of the men who raped my female ancestors and made my male ancestors watch, just feels so disrespectful. If you refer to my "She Said" from a few weeks ago, I make my case for how I love, respect and chherish black men too much to even consider switching flavors.

ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? SERIOUSLY. JUST. I JUST. THAT'S THE DUMBEST SHIT I'VE HEARD SINCE YESTERDAY. I'm pretty fucking sure you can love black men and not necessarily be an insult to your people by falling in love with somebody who isn't black. Not to mention the fact that not all white people had anything to fucking do with owning slaves. They may have the benefits of white privilege but some guy who is a 2nd or 3rd generation American whose working class grandfather fucking immigrated from Ireland or Poland had nothing to do with some fucking slave masters in North Carolina. FFS. Also, why are we acting like there are no biracial people on this campus and wouldn't be insulted by this?

The last time I was approached by a white man, I was at the gym. I was on the treadmill, happened to look back and saw dude staring at my butt. He comes up five minutes later and offers me a trip to Miami. I say no, without even cracking a smile. He didn't even ask my name; just assumed that since I am a young black woman, I just couldn't say no to a "baller" who wants to spend...his money on me. Sorry, but I'm not the video girl who is impressed by your attmept to throw dollars at me and pour alcohol over my head. I can't be your BET fantasy."

Dude sounds like a douchebag, but I'm sure you aren't the only chick he was trying to pick up that say to be his BET fantasy.

However, when one does decide to date outside of his or her race, I hope it's because he or she genuinely likes that person and not because that person fulfills some twisted racial ideals.

Well no fucking shit. Maybe I'm ignorant but I didn't think you wake up one morning and decide to start dating somebody who ain't brown and beautiful. I'm not saying that there are no thoughts of race if you end up dating somebody of a different race but she makes it sound so fucking dramatic.

I'm such a masochist for reading this shit. I should just fucking join the hilltop and bring some fuckin voice of reason to that hot mess. Just. Ugh.

At least I got a 100% on my National Government Massachusetts project! 8D
