Matcha tea~!

I had a package today. As I expected, today was the day that the matcha arrived. The canister was this little green squat thing with three Japanese characters on it; of course I can't read the language, so it was just pretty calligraphy as far as I knew. But the calligraphy was the least of my concerns as I slowly pulled the canister top off.

I was greeted by this shiny silver package. It was a good thing that it wasn't earlier today that I saw this; I spent a lot of the work day high on decongestant (It was that or be completely unable to breathe while I worked. That's usually unhealthy). Slowly, I pulled it open; even though I was careful I was still greeted by a fine mist of green powder.

I inhaled deep. A sweet, slightly medicinal, green aroma greeted me as I breathed. The smell of matcha. I took a fork, loaded some into a shallow-ish mug, added hot water and stirred fast, trying to fake a whisk-like action using the fork. I tasted after raising a fairly passable froth on top of my drink.

I'd almost forgotten how sublime matcha tea really is. It begins with a sweet taste that can only be described as 'healthy!sweet' if you've never seen it before, blossoms into a distinct green aura, and then turns into delicious silken sweetness as you swallow. You feel more lush after the first sip as your mind clears of any worries. I savored the taste, even trying to get at as much of the remaining green substance as I could after it was finished. You wouldn't guess it, but the taste is light, silky. It tastes like what perfect satisfaction feels like.

Ten minutes after my little floating hearts had faded from around my head, I suddenly felt clearer in the head. I'd forgotten about that effect, too. Tea of this quality, this purity, is actually proven to help convalescence as well as general well-being, but I'd forgotten that you actually feel the effect sometimes.

<3 Plain and simple. Not to be missed.
