Having refrained from using ChatGPT for a while due to concerns that it might strip away my human form and experiencing resistance to writing about the infiltration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), specifically ChatGPT, in higher education, I suddenly found myself motivated to engage in a dialogue with ChatGPT in light of the upcoming conference of the Philosophers of Education Association of Nigeria (PEAN), titled Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Education. In my exploration, I learned that "GPT" is a generative pre-training transformer in language processing and machine learning, which generates human-like responses to specific commands. Given the reality of living with some AIs and the recognition that not every emerging technology is worthy of philosophers' attention, ChatGPT's emergence has become an inevitable concern in higher education, particularly for faculty members and students. Garnering my attention on the role of AI in higher education, I focus on questions particular to philosophy, critical thinking, higher education, and more in my discussion with ChatGPT-4. Weighing on the prompts from ChatGPT and the findings of theorists in education, I discover that critical thinking and reasoning are human attributes that distinguish humans from AI and suggest that educators must be willing to take ownership of their learning and develop in learners the virtues and skills that the students require to survive in the AI age.

This is borne out of the need to interrogate their commitments to the field of philosophy and humanity. The essence of Rousseau and Freire's philosophical parlance in this paper is to examine possible implications on teacher and adult education programs. Hence, we considered Rousseau's thoughts on the state of nature, the general will and the common good and the necessity for freedom. Equally, we took into account Freire's position for and against freedom, humanisation and dehumanization. We conclude this paper by proposing that both Rousseau and Freire are great contributors to knowledge yet their educational ideas are not beyond some reflections.

Article 26 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the global education campaigns rightly affirm this. In this reflective piece, I suggest envisioning global education in the presence of technology that lives with us and makes us unfree or otherwise as humans, regardless of our acceptance or denial. This paper reflects on what counts as epistemic and ethical concerns in integrating technologies within contemporary educational pedagogy.

Although the contemporary society has more learning spaces and close communities yet persons still suffer from those problems that were thought would go into extinction. While no one can reverse the trend and influence of the new media, humanity should exercise caution for the preservation of its values.

Efforts like recruiting armed officers and expending money to buy arms and ammunitions are acts but to fight insurgency there is need for instituting a process. This process which has been practiced in many instances with sustainable results is called a literacy process. Without the process, insurgents will continue to be with Nigeria as a country, Africa as a continent and the whole world as an entity. This paper therefore identifies a literacy process for fighting insurgency and suggests ways of achieving a peaceful multiethnic society like Nigeria.

Value statements have been characterized to be part of most educational discussions and writings, however, its centrality should not be hindered (rather worked on) as conceived and supported by some philosophers, as against the logical positivists or empiricists who considered it to be a mere expression of thoughts. As the popular saying is, when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse becomes inevitable; this paper seeks a revision of Kola Babarinde's stance on value statements in education, and further emphasizes the position value plays in the contemporary schools.

Addressing the gender gap in civil engineering education will help to narrow the gender pay gap, enhance women’s economic security and ensure a diverse and talented STEM workforce. This paper focuses on gender disparity in civil engineering education at Institut d’Enseignement Superieur de Ruhengeri (INES), Rwanda, and the University of Ibadan (UI), Nigeria. Data were sourced from the graduating records of the Departments of Civil Engineering, INES Ruhengeri, Rwanda, and the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, covering a period of 5 years (2016 - 2021). Data were analysed using excel tools. The Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ibadan, recorded a slight increase in the number of female graduating students from 5 in the 2015/16 session to 6 in the 2020/21 session, representing a 20% increment and a slight reduction in the number of male graduating students in the department from 37 in the 2016/17 session to 28...

The crippled human activities, endeavors and the economy of the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic came as rude shock as there was no canary in the coal mine to suggest something of such magnitude. In this regard, this paper examined the present state of the coronavirus pandemic, highlighted sterling transitions from COVID-19 to post-COVID eras, and gave some recommendations that may assist the Nigerian government or other bodies concerned with educational matters. As emphasized, the governments and concerned subjects must ensure justice in bridging the gap of educational inequity, by ensuring adequate funding of the education sector and training (and retraining) of teachers, and lastly, by creating an enabling environment for both students and teachers to thrive.

The presentation of the contribution of epistemology to human development and education is based on addressing issues such as the nature of knowledge, sources of knowledge, theories, and criteria of truth. We proceed from the idea that knowledge is a condition of education. Particular attention is paid to the issue of distinguishing between such types of knowledge as 'knowing how’ and ‘knowing that'. Educational practices open a common foundation that unites the life world of people, types of sociality, and hermeneutical practices. The epistemological approach to the question of the essence of knowledge assumes that knowledge meets three requirements, namely, knowledge must be objective, subjective, and evidentiary. Epistemology includes subjectivity as the basis of human existence in the natural world and the world with others. Intersubject...
