About the LJ

pyrefly is my fandom blog, where I babble about all of my interests that fall within the realm of Asian culture; namely, manga, video games, and occasionally anime and Asian music. Most of this content is public. Lately, there have also been a number of friends-only entries pertaining more to "real-life" situations, especially college. However, I do have a separate blog focused only on non-fandom, real-life content over at aengelwynd.

Interests & Fandoms

Seeing as how I am practically married to my schoolwork, I unfortunately no longer really have time to do much more than occasionally dabble in fandom and all that that entails. I don't even consider myself a "real" fangirl most of the time.

I like manga better than anime. In fact, I haven't really actively kept up with any anime series or found any I particularly enjoyed since I got out of the Bleach fandom, which was a while ago. I've discovered that manga appeals to me more, but even then, I usually can't find the time to keep up with the series that I really like. Favorites include Air Gear, d.gray-man, and Gintama.

I'm also spend quite a bit of time reading BL manga, but I'm very picky about art and character development, so I tend to dislike these mangas more often than that I find ones I really enjoy. My favorite BL mangaka are Fujiyama Hyouta and Honami Yukine.

I guess I'm first and foremost a gamer girl overall (mostly RPGs), but again, with as little free time as I have, I'll be lucky if I get to play & finish 2-3 different games a year. I recently played the .hack//G.U. series and really enjoyed it. All-time favorites include the Gensou Suikoden series and the Xenosaga trilogy. More recently, I've been getting into action/adventure games. I love Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and Primal.

I don't really contribute to fandom much myself, other than writing so little that it probably doesn't really count. You can find my few and far-between attempts at fanfic at sachi.

On Friending

I tend to live in the Kingdom of Lurk, and rarely venture too far outside of the confines of my own f-list, so I don't usually go around friending people. I'm not elitist, by any means, but since I'm not really actively involved in any communities or fandoms, I don't often get to meet new people, and even on the rare occasion that I do, I tend to let my shyness get the better of me.

If you're interested in friending me, don't be shy! I friend back about 99% of the time, and if you're still hesitant, just hit me up on AIM sometime or something. I'm probably one of the least intimidating people you'll ever meet, I promise!
