Random Loading of Blasted Ore with Regard to Spatial Variations of Its Actual Lithological Compound
Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing, 2018
The simulation model of the mine transportation system with regard to actual parameters of haul t... more The simulation model of the mine transportation system with regard to actual parameters of haul truck inter-arrival times was built in FlexSim. Haul trucks classified by their payload were sampling the rock material from corresponding mining faces. Two main simulation variants (V1 and V2) with a constant overall or mining face specific copper content and lithology were analyzed. The new algorithm was developed, based on the random sampling of lithologic factions from the muck pile by haul trucks. The variant V2b illustrates the interesting feature of this algorithm, when first more material from the bottom layer of the mined seam was drawn, causing the depletion of its deposit in the subsequent haul truck courses. The study demonstrated that both approaches can be used interchangeably to simulate the economic outcome of the metal production on the hourly basis. The difference between V1 and V2 variants in the total amount of copper produced after full simulation cycle changes linear...

The sensitivity analyses and Monte Carlo simulations performed in this article include estimated land acquisition costs, geostatistics, 3D deposit block modelling, electricity (product) price, power station efficiency, the unit cost of lignite processing at the power station, CO 2 allowance costs, mining unit cost and also geological risk considered as kriging estimation error for lignite reserves. The investigated parameters have a nonlinear influence on the final results and hence the economically viable amount of lignite in the optimum ultimate pit varies. The optimum ultimate pit area varies across scenarios from 11.2 km 2 (or even 9.1 km 2) up to 14.3 km 2. The performed simulations allowed each optimum ultimate pit to be calculated from a unique set of project parameters based on their distributions. For the highest surface cost scenario, there is 95% probability of obtaining undiscounted net value of €1277 million and also there is only 5% chance to obtain the net value of €5524 million.

Diagnostics of conveyor belts used in horizontal transport without the need to take the belt off ... more Diagnostics of conveyor belts used in horizontal transport without the need to take the belt off the conveyor and test it in laboratory conditions is an important aspect in mining plants (Jurdziak et al., Adv Intell Syst Comput, 835:645–654, 2019). Current testing, and thus obtaining knowledge about the current thickness of the conveyor belt covers, allows for control accelerated changes. It also avoids emergency stoppages in the operation of the conveyor and enables economically justified planning of a break in its operation. The article presents the concept of the first in Poland mobile device for measuring the thickness of conveyor belts in motion, implemented as part of the NCBR project (No. 0227 / L-10/2018 [LIDER program, Transport Przemysłowy i Maszyny Robocze, 1(47)/2020, pp. 60–61]), and also presents the measurement results obtained thanks to the laboratory version of the device.

This paper presents the identification and classification of steel cord failures in the conveyor ... more This paper presents the identification and classification of steel cord failures in the conveyor belt core based on an analysis of a two-dimensional image of magnetic field changes recorded using the Diagbelt system around scanned failures in the test belt. The obtained set of identified changes in images, obtained for numerous parameters settings of the device, were the base for statistical analysis. This analysis makes it possible to determine the Pearson’s linear correlation coefficient between the parameters being changed and the image of the failures. In the second stage of the research, artificial intelligence methods were applied to construct a multilayer neural network (MLP) and to teach it appropriate identification of damage. In both methods, the same data sets were used, which made it possible to compare methods.

The growing need of reducing the use of raw materials and energy in the chain of supplying goods ... more The growing need of reducing the use of raw materials and energy in the chain of supplying goods draws the attention to all aspects of the most energy intensive processes like mining and processing of metal ore. Processing of raw materials strongly depends on their parameters, hence the more accurate identification of them should improve the process efficiency. The Process Analytic Technology with information carrying tags (pellets), annotating transported or processed raw material-is investigated within the DISIRE project. The application of DISIRE PAT for non-ferrous minerals processing is dealt with the copper producer KGHM S.A. The ore exploited in its underground mines in Poland is among the most difficult for processing. The ore compound is recognized in-situ-in mining faces. On the way to processing plants down the transportation system consisting of belt conveyors and ore bunkers, the portions of ore from numerous mining faces are converted into an unknown mixture. The study of PAT tags implementation to assign the conveyed ore with the relevant information to recognize the mixed ore compound is presented.

Autocorrelation Analysis of Cu Content in Ore Streams in One of KGHM Polska Miedż S.A. Mines
Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing, 2017

There were only few papers which analyzed variability of Cu content in feed to processing plant, on the transfer conveyor linking two mines and on the selected sectional conveyors. There were no such analysis regarding variation of ore lithological compositions. Such knowledge should improve metal recovery and reduce energy in processing plant by adjustment of milling and ore beneficiation parameters to known in advance copper ore quality data. Lack of data about ore composition prompted authors to analyze autocorrelations of Cu content time series in ore streams on the section and transfer conveyors as well as in the feed to processing plant. Determined differences in range of significant autocorrelations in ACF and PACF in different places along belt conveyor route have been explained by increasing difficulties in changing the average content of copper in ore coming from the growing area and a range of routes of loading machinery and face advance in comparison to range of directional semivariogram. The planned DISIRE experiment with application of Process Analyser Technology (PAT) sensors (containing ore information pellets), dropped into the transported ore streams and simulations of real flow of ore stream should show possibility to predict ore quality in advance to give enough time for necessary adjustments.

Koncepcja oznaczania etykietami energochłonności (A, B,..,G) obiektów zużywających energię została rozszerzona na samochody i budynki. Konieczność zwiększenia efektywności energetycznej dotyka też przemysł, toteż jest celowe by przystąpić do etykietowania energochłonności maszyn i urządzeń przemysłowych. Odstawa urobku w górnictwie zużywa do 50% łącznej energii systemu eksploatacji.

Loads acting on the conveyor belt cause it to undergo a continuous process of wear and tear. One ... more Loads acting on the conveyor belt cause it to undergo a continuous process of wear and tear. One of many symptoms indicating such wear and tear is the abrasion of the carrying cover and the pulley cover. Decrements in the belt’s cross-section reduce its puncture resistance, thus increasing the risk of core damage. Early detection of even the slightest damage to belt covers and the evaluation of damage increment may help the user to prepare a more precise schedule of current repairs. Such precision will in turn help to minimize losses due to belt conveyor emergency downtime. This article presents a device for measuring conveyor belt thickness and for evaluating the changes in the belt’s transverse and longitudinal profile. The measurements are performed continuously, along the belt axis. Belt thickness is measured on a flat section, during belt operation. The device may be applied to any type of belt used in mining industry. The measurement device is managed by an application called ...
