What is the Scheduled / Future status in WordPress? #
“Scheduled” is one of the eight default post statuses available in WordPress. It is possible to create new WordPress statuses if you require more options.
Inside the code this status is referred to as “Future”, but in the WordPress admin area you'll see it referred to as “Scheduled”.
A post in the Scheduled status is not published yet, but is scheduled to be published in a future date.
- To use the Scheduled status, look for the “Publish” box when you're editing a post.
- Click the “Immediately” link as shown in this screenshot:

- Choose a date that is ahead of today's date:

- You'll see that the “Publish” button has now changed to “Schedule”:

How to find Posts in the Scheduled Status #
You can find posts with the “Scheduled” status by clicking the “Scheduled” tab in the “Posts” screen.

It is also possible to use the PublishPress Planner plugin to see your scheduled posts. On the “Content Calendar” screen you can see the Scheduled posts that are due to be published.

Which users can access Posts in the Scheduled status? #
By default, any user that can create content can see Posts in the Future / Scheduled status. This means that Contributors, Authors, Editors and Administrators can all move posts to the Future status.
Users in the Subscriber role have no access to the “Posts” screen so can not see these posts.
