Approximation with Smaller Order Polynoms of EMF Characteristics of Thermocouples in the Measurement Systems

The temperature-versus-voltage relationship of a thermocouple is not linear. The thermocouple tab... more The temperature-versus-voltage relationship of a thermocouple is not linear. The thermocouple tables have a polynomial form. In the digital measurement systems the calculation of high-order polynomials is a time consuming task for the computer. We can also save time by using a lower order polynomial for a smaller temperature range. This paper presents a method for obtaining the smaller order polynoms for the approximation of real temperature-emf characteristic of thermocouples.

An important equipment of a lighting system is the switch on point, which ensures the correct sup... more An important equipment of a lighting system is the switch on point, which ensures the correct supply of the lamps on an hour interval imposed by the beneficiary and thus also provides the energy economy. The paper proposes the introduction of an expert system which uses a programmable automat and which leads an automat system for switch on points in public lighting systems. It is presented the hardware and software implemented application and the performances analysis of the proposed system. I. INTRODUCTION The new intelligent equipment presented in this paper increase the efficiency of the public lighting, [1]-[6], including more functions: switch on/off depending on the local lighting state; the possibility of switch on/off depending on the functioning preliminary schedule; the knowledge from distance of the functioning state of the respective electric network, the signaling at the appearance of some possible defects; the possibility of remote controlling the switch on/off commands; the knowledge possibility from a central point of the energetic consumptions in each switch on point and the state of the respective network, especially that the measured quantities are most often non-sinusoidal; the possibility of establishing economic functioning regimes, inclusive at voltages lower than nominal voltages; the endowment with a distance transmitting device of the command and measuring information: radio, wireless etc. These new functions can be implemented using hardware and software specialized elements, such as programmable automat ALPHA XL. The specialized program is realized with programming software. Through the program, we can command the inputs and outputs as we wish; we can measure times and perform calculus operations. The main characteristics of a PLC are: the maximum number of inputs/outputs, the memory capacity and the calculus speed. The mechanical expansion is a dimensional calibration technology process frequently encountered in the manufacturing this type of pipes, where forces between 600 and 1200 tf, as well as positioning precision in the range of tenths of mm, must be accurately controlled. The assembly of the electro-hydraulic automation and expansion process control includes dedicated measurement systems to achieve the technical parameters prescribed and to protect efficiently the technology assembly components.

New ideas appear, such as using replaced the batteries from electrical vehicles in the development of energy storage devices for critical consumers such as Data Centers. New uses impose detecting the unfavorable operating conditions which may endanger the power supply of Data Centers. This paper, by modeling and simulation, analyzes some particular problems of Li-ion batteries that appear due to the differences in state of charge of the cells.

This paper presents a solution to extend the traditional multiple choice tests to effectively graphic design of calculus equations for an electric workshop. Equation built procedure was augmented using animated pedagogical agents to increase the effectiveness of learning and practical skills and improve the attractive aspect of the process. The implemented algorithms and software were tested on two groups of bachelor degree students from Electrical Engineering Faculty, proving useful results and ways to develop further works.

Our system was designed as an alternative to Holter devices. Unlike a traditional long-term monitoring equipment, our system is stationary and non-contact, the cardiac signal is acquired through a capacitive coupling between the sensor and the subject's body. The proposed system is the first prototype and a stepping stone in the development of a future bio-monitorisation platform dedicated to non-contact cardio-respiratory investigations.

This paper presents the results of the study of the influence that relatively small changes in th... more This paper presents the results of the study of the influence that relatively small changes in the network impedance may have on in-field flicker measurements, performed using measuring instruments for the flicker severity (flickermeters), which were calibrated in the laboratory, under reference conditions. Changes in the network impedance with ± 10 % of the reference value were simulated, using a network model, emulating a typical low voltage, urban network, and rectangular modulation waveforms, emulating changes in the network voltage corresponding to a flicker severity index Pst = 1. The simulation results are important from the metrological point of view and have practical significance for the flickermeter calibration and utilization in networks with different impedance parameters.

The use of the power functional in the analysis of the electric circuits makes it possible to app... more The use of the power functional in the analysis of the electric circuits makes it possible to appreciate the energetic equilibrium state attained in the circuit at a certain moment. The basic circuit laws of electric circuits in stationary regime are interpreted in this paper by defining suitable functional in terms of power for DC circuit. It is shown that the minimum power determined by taking the derivative of these functional verifies the first Kirchhoff's law. This allows interpreting the circuit equations by using the second Kirchhoff's law and the principle of minimum power. A mathematical solution is used in order to determine the minimum power point for DC circuits. Numerical algorithm is implemented by used Matlab for validate the theory.

In this paper an analysis of a combination of these two methods is performed and also a numerical simulation in order to detect the right conditions in which this method is applicable.

The relation between the change in one or all the resistances of the networks, and the variation of total absorbed power are discussed using the Lagrange's multipliers, and the bilinear theorem. The results obtained with the dedicated software Mathematica 6.0 are useful for establishing the variation limits of absorbed power.

The algorithm has five steps in order to simplify the description of each multi-port and the multi-ports interconnection, and to reduce the network by successive procedures based on linear circuit equivalence properties. An efficient algorithm for topological determination of network functions for different input-output ports of the interconnected multi-ports networks is used.

This paper presents an original method for topological determination of network functions for lin... more This paper presents an original method for topological determination of network functions for linear and reciprocal multi-ports networks with a great number of nodes and edges. The algorithm has five steps in order to simplify the description of each multi-port and the multi-ports interconnection, and to reduce the network by successive procedures based on linear circuit equivalence properties. An efficient algorithm for topological determination of network functions for different input-output ports of the interconnected multi-ports networks is used.
