These models comprise the factors which play a part between people, technology and organizations. The purpose of this study was to specify and examine an integrated digital library user success (IDLUS) model within the context of digital library settings, Higher Education Commission National Digital Library (HEC-NDL) of Pakistan, by adopting and reusing the existing digital library and Web success models. Design/methodology/approach Stratified random sampling technique was used to choose the sample from the University of the Punjab, a highly ranked public sector university in Pakistan. Pakistan Journal of Library and Information Science (PJLIS) is an HEC recognized journal publishe... more Pakistan Journal of Library and Information Science (PJLIS) is an HEC recognized journal published by the Department of Library and Information Science, University of the Punjab, Lahore. A total of 111 publications from 11 issues of PJLIS were published during 1995 to 2010. It has outstanding contribution in the dissemination of LIS research on national and international level as it publishes both in print and electronic format. A bibliometric analysis of contributions published in the PJLIS from 1995 to 2010 has been presented in this paper. Attempt has been made to study all 11 issues of this journal on the basis of different parameters, viz., author productivity, extent of authors' collaboration, authors' institutional affiliation, authors' geographic affiliation, type of publication, language of papers, number of citations used per article, length of papers, and year-wise distribution of papers.

The main objectives of the study were to ascertain the feelings of website users along with the efficiency of the system with reference to its goals and tasks. Similarly, the adaptability of users to the web and its uses were also determined. The study also dealt with the assistance which may be provided to users to resolve system problems, difficulties and users' opinions about the consistency and standardization of the PUL website. To achieve these objectives, the study was processed through multi-phases. Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness level of librarians about vario... more Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness level of librarians about various ICT applications in University of the Punjab (PU) and to examine the constraints and issues they are facing in acquisition of modern ICT skills. Methodology A questionnaire was developed and administered to 80 professional librarians having graduate and postgraduate qualification. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 19.0). Findings Data analysis revealed that 99% of the participants are computer literate, having good knowledge of library automation and digitization. The knowledge of web based services such as e-mail, search engine, chatting, e-resources search, knowledge of OPAC/Web OPAC, etc by professionals is quite encouraging. Purpose The purpose of this research was to find out the perception of university librarians abou... more Purpose The purpose of this research was to find out the perception of university librarians about the current and required competencies. Main focus of this study is to identify the current rank and to point out the benchmark for competencies of library professionals at public universities in Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach Quantitative research design is used for the conduct of the current study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The Special Libraries Association (SLA) instrument “Competencies for Information Professionals of the 21st Century” was used to design the questionnaire. A paired sample t-test is used to establish whether there is any noteworthy distinction between the current and required levels of skills. Inferential statistic was also used and Independent Sample T-test and ANOVA was used to identify the difference in perception on the basis of different demographic variables. Findings There is a significant gap between the perceptions of university librarians about their present skills and required skills. Present level of skills is lower than the desired level of competence. There is no significant relationship between the length of job (i.e. experience), grade and skills of academic librarians. But in case of gender, male has higher score on current level of competencies while female has higher score on required level of skills. Originality/value The findings of this study are helpful for universities in the recruitment, management, and training of their librarians on the basis of required skills. Furthermore it will be useful for librarians in their career planning and continuing education and library schools to revise their curriculum in accordance with needs
