O peso aproximado do conjunto
é fornecido abaixo.

Preparation of Undercarriage
Removal of Old Undercarriage
1. Separate the track on both sides of the machine. Remove and discard the track. Refer to
Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate" for the proper procedure.

2. Remove and discard the track rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller -
Remove".

3. If the machine is equipped with SystemOne bolt-on Center Tread Idler (CTI) guards, remove
and discard the guards and bolts.

4. Remove and discard the track idlers. Idler caps, mounting bolts, washers, and idler shaft
shim blocks (If Equipped) can be reused if in good condition. Refer to Disassembly and
Assembly, "Idler - Remove".

Illustration 1 g03046863
5 mm (0.2 inch) shim plate installed between bogie pad and frames.

5. Evaluate bogie pad reuse per REHS1757 . If the bogie pad has an extra 5 mm (0.20 inch)
shim under the bogie pad, the shim can remain in place. D8 HDXL Undercarriage installed
on conventional major bogies will require 5 mm (0.20 inch) shim plates. See section
"Installation of Idlers on Conventional Bogie".

6. Evaluate track guide reuse per , REHS1757 . If worn, remove and discard the track guides.
Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller Frames - Remove".

7. If the machine is equipped with carrier rollers, remove and discard the carrier rollers.

8. Remove and discard the sprocket segments. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Sprocket Segment - Remove and Install".

9. Use a wire wheel or brush to remove rust and dirt from the mounting surfaces of rollers,
idlers, sprockets, and track guides. The mounting surfaces must be clean and flat.

Modification Of The Track Roller Frame Idler Guarding

Note: Perform this section only if the machine is equipped with SystemOne Center Tread Idlers.
If not, skip to "Installation of D8 HDXL".

Position the track roller frames right side up.

Installation of D8 HDXL
Determine The Existing Major Bogie Type: SystemOne or
Conventional
The conversion procedure and parts depend on which type of front and rear major bogie arms
are on the tractor: SystemOne or conventional. HDXL track ( 218 mm (8.58 inch) pitch) is

https://sis2.cat.com/#/print-preview/service/ad9739a2-1d9f-41fc-bf97-83d48d17b1cc 8/17

compatible with either type of major bogie. However, using this link pitch requires specific major
bogie and idler mounting that is different than conventional 215.90 mm (8.50 inch) pitch track.

Illustration 9 g06082437
(Upper) D8 SystemOne major bogie arm with CTI showing horizontal mounting surface for five bolt lower guard.
(Lower) Conventional D8 major bogie with conventional idler showing angled surface of major bogie arm.

SystemOne major bogies can be identified visually on the bogie arm profile directly below the
front or rear major bogie pin. The SystemOne major bogie arm will have a horizontal surface
where an idler guard can be mounted. The major bogie may have either a guard with five bolts
or a cover plate with three bolts installed in this area. Refer to Illustration 9.

If the major bogies are the SystemOne type, then proceed to "Installation of Idlers on
SystemOne Bogie".

Conventional major bogies can be identified visually by the angled surface of the major bogie
arm as shown in Illustration 9. There are no guard mounting bolt holes on conventional major
bogies. If the major bogies are conventional, then proceed to "Installation of Idlers on
Conventional Bogie".
