criar a locução “vou + verbo”) e WOULD (para indicar futuro hipotético). Fiquem tranquilos
porque é bem fácil! Então, simbora para a aula!

2. FUTURO COM WILL

no futuro.
verbo no futuro do presente. Vejam abaixo:

TO FIGHT = Lutar (infinitivo)

I FIGHT = Eu luto (presente)

I WILL FIGHT = Eu lutarei (futuro do presente)

Exemplos:

Don´t worry, friends. Santos will explain this topic again.

Exemplos:

Santos, will you stay home this weekend?

I´m so tired! I think I will go to the beach unwind.

É só colocar o WILL + VERBO
interrogativa:

3. FUTURO COM GOING TO

indicar futuro. Ele funciona parecido com a locução verbal VOU + VERBO NO INFINITIVO
do português. Veja abaixo:

TO FIGHT = Lutar (infinitivo)

I FIGHT = Eu luto (presente)

I AM GOING TO FIGHT = Eu vou lutar (futuro através de locução verbal)

Exemplos:
Professor Uéliton Santos

I just bought the plane tickets! We´re going to fly Paris next semester!!

GOING TO costumam citar o período futuro definido.

Exemplos:

Now it´s settled! We are going to get married next year!

Agora está decidido! Nós vamos nos casar ano que vem!

2022 it´s going to be an excellent year to all of us.

VERBO TO BE + GOING TO + VERBO NA FORMA DO INFINITIVO. Vejam como ela ocorre
nas formas afirmativa, negativa e interrogativa:

4. USO DO WOULD

Finalizando nossa aula, vamos agora aprender os usos do WOULD.

Professor Uéliton Santos

O WOULD, assim como o WILL, é uma partícula do inglês utilizada para indicar futuro.
Porém, enquanto o WILL funciona como se fosse o futuro do presente do português
(sufixos EI – Á – ÃO), o WOULD serve para indicar futuro do pretérito (sufixos IA – IAM). É
só isso!!

TO SLEEP: dormir (infinitivo)

I SLEEP: Eu durmo (presente)

I WOULD SLEEP: Eu dormiria (futuro do pretérito)

Exemplo:

I would do anything to have a chance with her…

Vejam:

1. Para fazer ofertas:

Would you like some tea?

Você gostaria de um pouco de chá?

2. Para expressar condições:

I would go to the party if I had money…

3. Para dar conselhos:

If I were you, I would start studying right now!

Vejam:

It was Maria’s first day at school, her first week in the United States. Her middle school in
San Francisco was the biggest building she’d ever seen. It was bigger than the entire
Best Buy store she’d walked through in awe on her first day in the city.

Eventually, Maria found her way to class, a special setting for Spanish-speaking
newcomers. There she would practice English words for colors and numbers, learn how
to introduce herself and how to say thank you. By eighth grade she was moved into
mainstream classes, where she struggled. It didn’t help that her math teacher started
each class by saying, “Okay, my little dummies.” He spoke really fast. Maria never raised
her hand in his class.

One day Maria stopped by the administrative office, looking for someone to help her with
multiplication. She took her spot in line behind a middle-aged woman who chatted with
her in Spanish as they waited. Maria said school was really hard for her. The woman told
Professor Uéliton Santos

her not to worry. “Latinas usually don’t finish high school,” she said. “They go to work or
raise kids.”

The woman was right, statistically speaking, and Maria’s middle-school experience all
but ensured she’d join the 52 percent of foreign-born Latinos who drop out of high school.
She graduated from eighth grade without learning to speak English. She had a hard
time writing in Spanish and didn’t know how to multiply.

Everything you’ve heard about failing schools is wrong.
