Chat with people at events, nearby, or in a room you create.

● Radius — set how far you can see. Only people within mutual range can chat.
● Rooms — join the global room or create one for an event. Rooms expire automatically.
● DMs — encrypted between your devices. The server cannot read them.
● Whisper — messages that disappear after 30 seconds.
● Privacy — no account, no phone number. Your exact location is never shared (rounded to ~3 mi). Recent room messages are stored; DMs and exact GPS are not.

Event mode

Enable in Settings for gatherings. Adds help/check-in buttons, crowd-sourced map pins, and quick wipe.

How proxchat works

Radius

The slider controls how far you can see. You only connect with people who are within both your radius and theirs. Slide it wider at a large event, or keep it tight for a single room.

Rooms

The global room connects everyone. Tap + room to create a named room for an event or place. Rooms expire automatically. Share the link or QR code to invite people.

Direct messages

Tap a name in the buddy list to DM them. Messages are encrypted between your devices. The server cannot read them. Keys are generated fresh each session.

Whisper

Tap the whisper button before sending. The message appears for 30 seconds, then disappears for everyone. It is never stored.

Bump

Tap bump or shake your phone to send a pulse to everyone nearby. A way to say hello without saying anything.

Commands

Type / to see available commands. Hosts can kick, ban, mute, and post announcements. Anyone can report.

Privacy

No account. No phone number. Your exact location is never shared — only an approximate distance, rounded to a 3-mile grid. Recent room messages are stored on the server. DMs, whispers, and your GPS coordinates are not.
