Hey all, I recently got a new AMD GPU to replace my nvidia 3070ti - what’s the support like these days for egpus on Linux? I’d like to be able to still use the 3070ti with my laptop (it has thunderbolt ports).
Egpu enclosures were basically a nonstarter on Linux a few years ago last time I looked into it, so not sure if thats still the case.
They work fine these days. Thunderbolt is much more mature now and Linux has always supported pcie hotplug. It can get weird if you unplug it in the middle of doing something but just dont do that.
Sweet, I’ll have to trawl through some resources and try to figure out what to get. Its far more complicated then I thought ha ha
Though note that you get a hefty performance penalty with eGPU.
