Building a career as a woman in the construction industry

Thanks to the F.I.C. (Women, Integration, Construction) program, women can pursue a career in the industry and thrive in a healthy, safe environment that fosters the development of their skills. The F.I.C. program is a source of motivation towards graduation, professional development and access to existing training courses.

Employers: Discover ESSI certification

To participate in the F.I.C. (Women, Integration, Construction) program, compliant companies must obtain ESSI (Sound, Safe and Inclusive Environment) certification.

The F.I.C.: an essential role.

F.I.C. is funded in part by the Government of Canada, through the Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy – Women in the Skilled Trades Initiative, one of whose objectives is to promote gender equity for skilled and productive labour within various key sectors.
The F.I.C. program is the brainchild of the non-profit organization Les Elles de la Construction. Created to meet new needs in the industry, it aims to support the integration of women into the construction sector.
To help them find their place on construction sites, develop their careers and thrive, the program relies on ESSI (Safe and Inclusive Environment) certification, awarded to employers who actively support their integration process.
Taking advantage of the F.I.C. program means becoming a learner accompanied by a designated mentor within the participating company, to receive training directly in the field. It means putting the odds in your favour and equipping yourself to build a stimulating career.
