    Bio

    Hi, I’m Zack. I work on Openverse, sponsored by Automattic. Ask me about WordPress across the stack—from small styling bugs to PHP execution errors.

    WordPress Origin Story

    I started freelance web development while in college, around 2010, and WordPress was the natural choice to make small content sites for local businesses and friends.

    Afterword, for financial reasons I dropped out of school and jumped into an agency role, where I wrote custom WordPress themes full-time!

    Through WordPress I learned to write HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript, but also lots of other useful tooling in the ecosystem like css preprocessors, javascript build tools, vagrant, docker, etc.
