WordPress Origin Story

While primarily building my own custom Content Management Systems for my employers (and later, myself), I started dabbling with WordPress in 2006 on personal projects.

I began building WordPress sites professionally in 2008 as part of my last employment situation before going freelance later that year. During the first 6 years of my freelance business I primarily continued to build on a custom CMS based on CakePHP. That project was sunsetted in 2014 and I switched to development on WordPress full-time.

While I still primarily do client work, an increasing part of my business has been devoted to plugin development, both the handful of free plugins I have here in the repository as well as the commercial version of my plugin, ICS Calendar Pro.

I also still use WordPress for my personal blog, as I have since 2007.
