I’m Harish, a designer who started out studying Architecture before realising I enjoyed building websites more. I’ve been tinkering with WordPress since the early 2000s and still love the mix of design and problem-solving it brings. If I’m not working on support or one of my side projects, you’ll probably find me cycling somewhere.

WordPress Origin Story

I first stumbled across WordPress by accident around 2006, just as I was finally stepping away from studying Architecture to pursue web design full time. At the time, I was exploring various CMS options such as Joomla, Drupal, and even CMS Made Simple, which were gaining popularity. But I never quite connected with them. Joomla felt overly rigid and complex for small custom sites, Drupal was too developer-focused for the kind of creative freedom I wanted, and most other systems just didn’t feel intuitive.

WordPress, even back then, stood out. It was far from perfect in 2006. There was no native support for tags, media handling was clunky, and the admin interface felt dated, but there was something about it that made sense to me. Still, I didn’t dive in fully right away.

It wasn’t until version 2.5 came out in 2008 that things clicked. The admin area got a much-needed redesign, plugin updates became easier, and it finally felt like something I could use daily without fighting the system. From that point on, nearly every site I built, personal projects and client work alike, was powered by WordPress.

Hard to believe that something I found by chance is now at the core of almost everything I do.
