Umm, just a software engineer, mostly working with Embedded C/Linux stuff.
And I sometimes dabble with the web stuff.

WordPress Origin Story

Alright, so, the first time I found out about WordPress, was around 2007, when I was a student, member at an NGO, and we needed to re-vamp our site: http://bestcj.ro/

We discussed it, some people said Drupal, some said Joomla, and someone pulled me on the side to show-case WordPress to me [maybe he was lobby-ing], from his personal blog.
[ At the time, the more popular CMS systems were Drupal, Joomla & WordPress ; but WP seemed very targeted at blogging ].
We still went with Joomla ; not sure why ; maybe we thought we’d need more complexity.
I later regretted the decisions ; I mean, even at that time, Joomla would drop 3000+ php files on your drive and getting it to work as expected was a hassle.

We still tried WordPress for event sub-sites ; whenever we’d do an event, we’d have a small discussion about whether to write-up the site from scratch, use the main Joomla, or spin up a WordPress.

Now, usually if I need a quick blog or CMS, I just look at WordPress and see what it has to offer.
You can take a base WP and make it launch rockets if you really want to [ if you combine the right plugins and glue code].

Maybe making sqlite3 as a default DB engine would be interesting ; I mean, I love portable apps.
That’s one thing I never liked about any CMS: the need to run an extra DB server.
I guess that’s my Embedded C side talking ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
