Dr. Jeffrey Forris Beecham Chick is a Professor of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He serves as Chief of the Interventional Radiology Division within the Department of Radiology at Keck Medicine of USC, Program Director of the Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Program, and Associate Program Director of the Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program.

Dr. Chick completed his diagnostic radiology residency at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in both Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology and is a Fellow of several distinguished professional societies, including the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), the Society for Vascular Medicine (FVSM), and the American Heart Association (FAHA).

Prior to his current appointments, Dr. Chick served as Vice Quality Assurance and Safety Officer at the University of Michigan. At the University of Washington, he held multiple senior leadership roles, including Associate Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Program Director of the Interventional Radiology Residency, Director of Research, and Director of Venous Interventions. He is the founder of the Deep Vein Institute and IRADLab (Interventional Radiology Advanced Development Laboratory) and serves as a strategic advisor to multiple biomedical and device innovation organizations focused on advancing image-guided therapies.

Internationally recognized for his clinical innovation and academic leadership, Dr. Chick is widely regarded as a pioneer in the endovascular management of venous disease. His work has helped define contemporary treatment strategies for deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, superior vena cava syndrome, and complex chronic venous occlusive disease. He has been at the forefront of advancing large-bore mechanical thrombectomy, complex venous recanalization, and venous stent reconstruction for patients with severe thrombotic and post-thrombotic disease. Through both clinical innovation and an extensive body of scholarly work, he has played a central role in shaping modern approaches to advanced venous interventions.

In addition to venous interventions, Dr. Chick has extensive expertise in lymphatic imaging and intervention, interventional radiology–directed endoscopy, and complex image-guided procedures. He is also recognized for his leadership in operational excellence in interventional radiology, including resource optimization, workflow efficiency, and quality and safety initiatives within high-volume academic medical centers. His scholarly interests further extend to physician wellness, moral injury, professional fulfillment, social media in medicine, and medical malpractice within interventional radiology.

Dr. Chick has delivered more than 200 invited national and international presentations and has authored over 265 peer-reviewed scientific publications, establishing him as one of the leading academic voices in contemporary interventional radiology. His work continues to influence both the clinical practice and the evolving technological landscape of endovascular and image-guided therapy.
