Umitron has developed a smart feeder for recirculating aquaculture systems to automate and optimize feeding operations using artificial intelligence.

UMITRON K.K. (Location: Tokyo, Representative: Ken Fujiwara, hereafter Umitron) has collaborated with Hayashi Trout Farm, Inc.(Location: Fukushima, President: Soichiro Hayashi, hereafter Hayashi Trout Farm) and NEC Networks & System Integration Corporation(Location; Tokyo, President: Yushi Ushijima, hereafter NEC Networks & System Integration) to develop a smart feeder for recirculating aquaculture systems. They have since completed a successful experiment to manage the growth of salmon using artificial intelligence (A.I.) to make automatic feeding decisions.

UMITRON Continues its Push to Bring Satellite Data to Aquaculture with the Launch of the Pulse iOS Application and a New Collaboration with the Japan Space Forum

UMITRON PTE. LTD. (Singapore, Co-founder/ Managing director Masahiko Yamada, hereinafter UMITRON) is bringing more satellite data to the aquaculture industry with the roll out of the Pulse iOS application and the kick off of a new project with the Japan Space Forum*.

Pulse is a new ocean data service from Umitron that provides a high-resolution map of critical  environmental parameters such as water temperature, chlorophyll, dissolved oxygen, salinity, and wave height. The iOS application launch completes Umitron’s roll out of Pulse after the initial launch of Pulse for desktop computers in July followed by the Android application release in November.

UMITRON was selected for PoC Ground Tokyo, a Tokyo startup proof-of-concept acceleration program, and will proceed with the project theme: New value proposition for aquaculture fish by UMITRON data.

Umitron K.K. (Location: Tokyo; President: Ken Fujiwara; hereinafter referred to as “Umitron”) was selected for PoC Ground Tokyo, a Tokyo startup proof-of-concept (PoC) acceleration project), which is sponsored by the Tokyo metropolitan government. The total number of applicants was over 90, 19 startups got through to the pitch competition and a final 9 startups including Umitron were selected.

The PoC, which will start in September, will test how to appeal and market to consumers using aquaculture fish raised by Umitron’s technology. In the future, we will use Umitron technology and data to provide a reproducible and stable supply of high quality fish to consumers.
