Since the start of the 2023 MLB postseason, there were twelve teas that qualified for the playoffs. Now, only two teams are left standing. The American League Champion, #5 Texas Rangers and the National League champion, #6 Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Rangers have home-field advantage in the series due to having a better regular season record than the Diamondbacks.
This marks the first postseason meeting betwenn the Rangers and the Diamondbacks having to lose over 100 games in 2021. The 174 combined wins for both teams is the lowest ever total for a non-shortened season World Series.
This will be the first World Series where both teams will play their home games with a retractable roof and this will also be the first World Series since 2020 to have all games played on artificial turf and since 1993 to have all games played without the use of a neutral-site.
Here's how both of these teams got to the Fall Classic:
* American League Champion: #5 Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers finished their regular season with a 90-72 (.556) record, The Rangers qualified for the postseason af the #5 seed wildcard entrant in the American League just two years removed from a 102-loss season.
Going into the best-of-three American League Wildcard Series, the #5 Rangers eliminated the #4 Tamppa Bay Rays in two games. In the best-of-five American League Division Series, the #5 Rangers pulled off an upset and eliminated the #1 Baltimore Orioles in three games and in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series, the #5 Rangers eliminated the defending World Series champion #2 Houston Astros.
#53 Outfielder Adolis Garcia was named the 2023 American League Championship Series Most Valuable Player. He was responsible for scoring 15 RBIs and 7 runs (including 5 home runs), all of which came in the final four games of the series. He set the Major League record for most RBIs in a single season.
After the defending World Series champion Houston Astros were eliminated, Dusty Baker announced his retirement after 26 years as a MLB manager for the Astros.
This marks the #5 Texas Rangers's first World Series appearance since 2011. The Rangers are looking to win their first World Series title in franchise history.

* National League Champion: #6 Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks finished their regular season with a 84-78 (.519) record and 16 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Diamondbacks qualified for the postseason as the #6 seed wildcard entrant in the National League just two years removed from a 110-loss season, which included an MLB record 24 straight road losses.
The Dimondbacks had a uneven regular season, which included extreme highs and lows. At their peak in mid-June, the Diamondbacks were 41-25 and leading the NL West. The Diamondbacks had a 32-game stretch, where from early-July to mid-August, they went 7-25, a .219 win percentage and had fallen to 57-59.
Going into the best-of-three National League Wildcard Series, the #6 Diamondbacks eliminated the #3 Milwaukee Brewers in two games. In the best-of-five National League Division Series, #6 Diamond backs upset and eliminated the #2 Los Angeles Dodgers in three games and in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series, the #6 Diamondbacks eliminated the defending National League Champion #4 Philadelphia Phillies in seven games.
#4 Second Baseman, Ketel Marte was named the 2023 National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player for finishing the series batting .387 including 4 doubles, a triple and 3 RBI.
The Arizona Diamondbacks make it back to the World Series for the first time since 2001 when they won the World Series title that year having to defeat the three-time World Series champion, New York Yankees.
The average time of the National League Championship Series was 3 hours and 1 minute. The average attendance record was 45,397.
The 119th edition of the World Series will begin on Friday, October 27, 2023 and if necessary, will conclude with Game 7 on Saturday, November 4, 2023. The series will be televised on Fox, Fox Deportes and MLB International.
