Although the Astros were members of the National League until 2012, they never met either the Montreal Expors or the Washington Nationals in the postseason during their tenure in the National League, thus making this the first ever postseason meeting between the two franchises.

Here's how the first two rounds of the MLB postseason finished:

* American League Champion: Houston Astros
The Houston Astros finished their regular season with the best record in Major League Baseball. Their record was with 107 wins and 55 losses (.66, 60-21 at home, 47-34 on the road). The Astros won the American League West division 10 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics.

From curse to first, next year is finally hear and the wait is finally over! The Chicago Cubs have won the World Series for the first time since 1908.

108 years of frustration and generations of patience have paid off, finally. This is also the Cubs' third World Series title in franchise history.

The Cubs were on the brink of elimination, but they managed to come back from a three games to one deficit to defeat the American League champion, Cleveland Indians in a very close call by a score of 8 to 7 in 10 innings. The Cubs eliminate the Indians, four games to three.

With the Cubs win and the end to the curse of the Billy Goat, this now leaves the Cleveland Indians with the longest World Series drought of 68 years and counting. In total, this year's 112th edition of the World Series had a combined drought total of 176 years.

The average time of the 112th World Series was 3 hours and 42 minutes with a average attendance record of 39,658 (peak attendance record was Game 5 with 41,711). Prior to the top of the 10th inning, there was a 17 minute rain delay. #18 Second Baseman, Ben Zobrist was awarded the 2016 World Series Most Valuable Player.

He was credited for getting the game winning RBI double in the top of the 10th inning in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series. Throughout the World Series, he scored an average of 4 at bat, 6 runs, 10 hits, 2 doubles, a triple, 2 runs batted in, 3 bases on balls and 4 strikeouts.

Other teams have ended the curse years before including the Chicago White Sox in 2005 (their last World Series title was in 1916) and the Boston Red Sox in 2004 (their last World Series title was in 1917).

Since the Indians lost the World Series in a very close call, they'll try again next year to end their longest World Series drought.

Now, with all of that said, the Major League Baseball season now heads into the 2016-2016 off-season. Including Spring Training, the All-Star Game and the postseason, the 2016 MLB calendar year lasted a record 248 days or nearly 37 weeks.

The 2017 MLB calendar year will begin anew on Sunday, 26 February 2017 with Spring Training. Opening Night of the 2017 MLB regular season will begin on Sunday, 2 April 2017 with the New York Yankees taking on the Tampa Bay Rays and the San Francisco Giants taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks!

For now, after 108 years of frustration, patience has finally paid off! Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs, champions of baseball for the first time since 1908!

Since the start of the 2016 MLB postseason, there were ten teams that qualified for the playoffs. And now, only two teams are left standing. The American League Champion, Cleveland Indians and the National League Champion, Chicago Cubs. This will be for the ultimate prize...the World Series championship!

The 112th edition of the World Series will begin this Tuesday, 25 October 2016 and if necessary, will conclude with Game 7 on Wednesday, 2 November 2016. If Game 6 is necessary, this will be the first of two World Series games to be played into November.

American League Champion: Cleveland Indians
The Cleveland Indians finished the regular season with a 94-67 (.564) record and finished first in the American League Central Division. The Indians make their first World Series appearance since 1997 and their sixth appearance overall. Along with their first wildcard berth, they won eight Central Division titles.

Out of the sixth Fall Classic appearances, they lost their three series in their history, losing to the New York Giants in 1954, the Atlanta Braves in 1995 and the Florida Marlins in 1997. The Indians are looking to win their first World Series title since 1948.

Looking back at their postseason run, the Indians receieved a first-round bye in the American League Wildcard Game. It wasn't until the American League Division Series when the Indians eliminated the Boston Red Soxs in three games (three games to none). In the next round, the Indians eliminated the Toronto Blue Jays in five games (four games to one) in the American League Championship Series.

#24 Relief Pitcher, Andrew Miller was awared the 2016 ALCS Most Valuable Player. He was credited for scoring 3 hits, 14 strikeouts, 2 saves, 9 holds and a average of 4.15 innings pitched in the ALCS.

National League Champion: Chicago Cubs
The Chicago Cubs finished the regular season with 103 wins and 58 losses (.563). The Cubs not only finished first in the National League Central, but they finished with the best record in Major League Baseball this year.

The Cubs make their 11th appearance in the modern World Series since 1903. The Cubs won two World Series championships in 1907 and 1908 against the Detroit Tigers. What caused the curse of the billy goat is that the Cubs lost eight other World Series appearances. In 1906 against the Chicago White Sox, in 1910 against the Philadelphia Athletics, in 1918 against the Boston Red Sox, in 1928 against the Philadelphia Athletics, in 1932 against the New York Yankees, in 1935 against the Detroit Tigers, in 1938 against the New York Yankees and in 1945 against the Detroit Tigers.

And now, the wait is finally over! The Cubs make their first World Series since 1945 and are looking to end their longest curse by winning their first World Series title since 1908 and their third World Series championship overall.

#9 Infielder/Third Base Javier Baez and #34 Starting Pitcher, John Lester were awarded the 2016 NLCS Co-MVP awards!

Javier Baez made 22 at bats, 3 runs, 7 hits, 4 doubles, 5 runs batted in, 4 strikeouts and 2 stolen bases. Jon Lester made a average of 6.5 innings pitched, 2 runs, 2 earned runs, 1 home run, 2 bases on balls, 8 strikeouts and a average ERA of 1.44. He won in Game 6 of the NLCS.

This historic matchup features two franchises with the longest World Series droughts, a combined 176 years without a championship. The previous longest combined drought was 132 years in 2005 when the Chicago White Sox won the World Series since 1917 leaving the Houston Astros without a title even if it was their first Fall Classic in 44 years.

Will the Chicago Cubs end their longest World Series drought and win their first World Series title since 1908 or will the Cleveland Indians win their first World Series since 1948 only to extend the Cubs' curse?

Find out during the World Series!

Anyways, enjoy the 2016 World Series!
