FAQ’s

Welcome to the Pozi Frequently Asked Questions page.

Here you’ll find answers to common questions about how Pozi works, how it’s deployed, and how it supports organisations in managing and sharing spatial data.

What is Pozi?

Pozi is a web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) that enables organisations to view, share, and interact with spatial data through a simple web browser. It removes the cost and complexity often associated with traditional desktop GIS software, making spatial information accessible to more people across an organisation. Pozi is designed to centralise meaningful information into a single point of truth as well as integrate into business critical systems such as Enterprise Rating and Property (ERP), Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).

Who is Pozi designed for?

Pozi is built for organisations that rely on spatial information to plan, manage and deliver services. It is widely used across local government and the public sector, as well as by utilities, infrastructure providers and other asset-intensive organisations.

Within these organisations, Pozi supports planners, engineers, asset managers, customer service teams, executives and field crews. It provides a shared view of spatial data so different teams can access consistent, reliable information and make informed decisions.

Do I need GIS software installed to use Pozi?

Pozi itself is web-based, so everyday users access it through a standard web browser and do not need GIS software installed. However, QGIS is used on the backend to manage, configure and publish spatial data to Pozi.

Is Pozi suitable for non-technical users?

Yes. Pozi is designed for everyday users, not just GIS professionals. The interface is simple and intuitive, making it easy for non-technical staff to view maps, search data, and make informed decisions.

Is Pozi powered by QGIS?

Yes. Pozi is powered by QGIS, the world’s leading open-source GIS platform. This ensures strong spatial capability while allowing organisations to benefit from open standards and an open ecosystem

Is Pozi an Australian product?

Yes. Pozi is Australian-owned, developed and supported. Our team provides local support, implementation guidance and ongoing advice to ensure Pozi works effectively within your broader systems and workflows. You’re dealing with experienced Australian GIS professionals who understand the operational, technical and organisational context in which spatial data is used.

What types of data can be viewed in Pozi?

Pozi can display a wide range of spatial data including property, roads, boundaries, assets, infrastructure, planning layers, utilities, and environmental data. It supports common GIS formats used by councils including raster data such as aerial imagery.

Can Pozi integrate with our existing GIS data?

Yes. Pozi connects to your existing spatial datasets and GIS environment. It does not replace your core GIS. Instead, it makes your existing data accessible across the organisation.

Can Pozi be used on mobile devices?
Yes. Pozi works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices through a web browser. This means staff can access live maps in the office, onsite, or in the field.

Can Pozi be used in the field?

Yes, Pozi can be used anywhere you have an internet connection. Staff in the field can view mapping layers and see exactly where they are in relation to your data. Need to collect data offline? We also offer an Australian-hosted MerginMaps solution.

Is Pozi secure?

Yes. Pozi follows industry-standard security practices. User access is controlled through secure logins and role-based permissions to ensure sensitive data is protected.

Can different users have different access levels?
Yes. Administrators can control who can view, edit, or manage maps and data. This ensures staff only see the information relevant to their role.

How quickly can Pozi be implemented?

Pozi can typically be implemented quickly because it connects to existing GIS data and is browser-based. Many organisations are up and running within weeks, not months.

What are the main benefits of using Pozi?
Key benefits include:

  • Lower total cost compared to traditional GIS deployments
  • Easy access to live spatial data across the organisation
  • No GIS software installation required
  • Reduced reliance on specialist GIS staff for day-to-day map access
  • Improved decision-making using location-based information

How is Pozi priced?
