    Installing and configuring LAMPP

    Hi friends this is Sujit.

    I want to install and configure Apache, MySQL, PHP5, Perl. in Red hat Linux Enterprise 5 from a tar file. Can any body give me the step by step instruction for that????

          While I am sure the link above is fine, I sometimes prefer to use the packaging system that comes with things like Red Hat. That said, if you look here, you will find that that setup, while using CentOS, uses yum packaging to do the installations. This may be a bit better as it takes some of the software building away from you and simply does the install of the package itself. I find this a much quicker way of getting up and running as you can also resolve dependencies as you go. When building, you have to install any and all dependencies first.

          CentOS is a free version that is pretty much just like Red Hat Enterprise.
