    cannot bring up http://localhost

I apologize for this q in advance as I'm new and just installed apache.
I installed the latest version off of apache.org. If I test the configuration by going to test Configuration, the black window comes up and disappears quick. The monitor comes up fine. However, if I start apache, it sits there at a black window and 2 instances of httpd.exe come up in task manager. When I try to go to http://localhost it times out.
I am running Windows XP pro. I have not installed any modules for apache. It is only apache so far. During the install of apache, I left the server information at its default. However, when I was trying to find out how to fix this issue, I found the install.log file and changed the domain name and the server name to localhost.
Any ideas on what to check next? Thanks in advance.

a black window? first of all, is there any problem with the video configuartion on your machine? the problem may not be with the apache, but on your hardware. can you run other applications properly?
