This is hardware and software I use to make all this magic happen. I think this is a neat idea and like seeing people’s setups.

Laptop Computer

Lenovo P14s Gen 3

This is my primary mobile computing workstation. It's small, light and fast and has a great keyboard! Honestly best laptop I've owned in many years.

This was also the first time I've given Fedora a go and it's been a great laptop OS for me. Updates quick and has never given me any problems.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6580U
  • RAM: 32GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon 680M

Intel Macbook Pro 16"

Bought this to finally give MacOS a solid go and I'll be honest - it's the worst computer I've ever owned in my entire life. Touchbar was such a dumb idea and using MacOS is crippling. If the fucking thing asks me one more time to setup an icloud account I might actually just throw it away.

The only time I pull it out is when I have to test something in Safari but even then I always forget to update it and usually skip it because updating for some reason takes an hour every time.

I have mostly completely given up on it and installed Windows on it and it's a bit more usable but mostly it just sits in a drawer.

All in all, waste of money.

Phone

It's a Pixel 6 Pro. Not really much I can say about it - It's a nice enough phone no complaints really, I just barely use phones for anything anymore if I can avoid it.

Mobile Gaming

I've got a SteamDeck OLED Special Edition. Amazing piece of tech honestly probably one of my absolute favorite tech purchases in a really long time. It's so great to be able to load a ton of games on it and just toss it in my truck whenever I have to head somewhere. If I have any downtime I can just fire it up and play a bit. Sure beats looking at my stupid phone.

Software

This is stuff I use all the time:

  • Firefox – Best browser, fight me.
  • Arch Linux – After running Gentoo forever and finally switching to Arch I hate that I waited so long to switch.
  • Fedora - My favorite laptop distro, been running it forever with absolutely no issues and I would highly recommend it!
  • Zed - Primary IDE which dethroned VS Code after many years. It's snappy and fast and works great.
  • Kitty - Excellent terminal emulator, I switched from Alacritty for a few reasons and although it took a bit to get used to, I really am enjoying it.
  • Raindrop.io - Not a self hosted app or FOSS but I use it as a bookmark manager and mood board and honestly I've tried to replace it with something FOSS but nothing comes close to it for my use case.
  • Hyprland - After a few years of abandoning tiling WM I am back on one. Really like how it all works and it having a center work style layout for ultrawide's natively makes it amazing
  • KDE - I use this on my laptop as the screen feels too small to really take advantage of a tiling WM and I've used KDE for a long while now and have always enjoyed it. Great desktop WM
  • Fish Shell - I love the batteries included style of it, I've been using this for so long at this point.
  • Atuin - Shell history tool that has been a game changer for me. Once I accidentally deleted all my history and it literally crippled me for a month. This is in my "cant live without" list
