MegaETH to Refund USDm Pre-Deposits After Multisig Chaos

MegaETH has announced it will refund every USDC deposited into its USDm Pre-Deposit Bridge, admitting the rollout was “sloppy” after a string of avoidable failures. The project’s KYC system buckled under demand, the team rushed a cap increase, and a multisig oversight even let one user reopen the bridge 34 minutes ahead of schedule.

Still, MegaETH insists the early supporters won’t be left behind. The team says those initial depositors “will not be forgotten” when future rewards roll out. The USDC–USDm bridge is set to reopen before the Frontier mainnet beta launch, giving MegaETH a chance to rebuild liquidity and smooth the onboarding process.

Upbit uncovers private key vulnerability after $30M hack

Upbit has confirmed a major private key vulnerability after a $30 million hack emptied its Solana hot wallet, with the exchange admitting there is “no excuse” for the security lapses that made the breach possible. The flaw allowed attackers to potentially infer user private keys — a shocking oversight for a top-tier exchange. Upbit says it has now patched the vulnerability and fully reimbursed all affected users.

South Korean authorities have launched an on-site investigation, suspecting North Korea’s Lazarus Group, the same hackers behind Upbit’s 2019 breach. In the meantime, Upbit has frozen deposits and withdrawals as it tracks the stolen funds. The exchange called the incident a blunt reminder that “perfect security preparedness” is an illusion in crypto.

Visa taps Aquanow to expand stablecoin settlement across Europe, Middle East, and Africa

Visa has teamed up with Aquanow to push stablecoin settlement deeper into Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa;  a move that lets banks and payment providers in these regions settle transactions in approved stablecoins like USDC, any day of the year.

The partnership arrives as Visa’s stablecoin settlement volume reaches a $2.5 billion annualized run rate. With momentum building, the company says it’s gearing up to support more stablecoins and additional blockchains as it continues modernizing its global payment infrastructure.
