Suggestion: named references

Hi there. I admit abusing of this wonderful plug-in but it lacks one feature, and one not of secondary importance: named references. I recently started writing posts with lots of refs I need to recall in different parts of the text and, while most of the times I do the original writing with some other software (like wiki or even latex) and then copy-paste-fix it in WP, it'd be great if I could edit posts directly in WP and use named references so I can add footnotes on the go without bothering to check if numbering has changed.

Or maybe I just missed the feature, uh? :)
