Death Guard vs Astra Militarum (1,000 points) – Battle Report

List Theory

I’m continuing with my Terminus Est Assault Force lists. This time I scaled back the Poxwalkers to two minimal sized units of ten and instead bulked up on Plague Marines. I kept the Possessed in order to have something fast and a squad of Deathshroud could teleport onto the battlefield with my Warlord (a Lord of Virulence).

The Game

Setup

This was my first game using the Tempest of War cards from Games Workshop. We drew the cards that gave us a very simple mission with a special rule that meant that re-rolls would cost 2CP.

If you’re observant you might not that the Astra Militarum army tanks seem to jump about a bit. This is because my opponent made a mistake. He deployed one, thought that he had another and popped it down in the first turn and then realised that he should only have had one so one disappeared.

I put one the Possessed into deep strike along with the Lord of Virulence and my Deathshroud. Pretty much everything else I hid back in my deployment zone all on one side, I think that this would prove to be a bid mistake.

The Death Guard would take the first turn.

Death Guard vs Orks (1,500 points) – Battle Report

List Theory

Like my last game this list continues my focus on Plague Marines and Possessed while also bringing back my two units of Death Shrouds with the extra points that I have available.

For the Poxwalkers I decided to take two full sized units of 20 as they benefit the most from stratagems like Mutant Strain (while fighting unmodified rolls of 6 to hit cause a mortal wound to the enemy) and The Wrathful Dead (re-roll hit rolls for Poxwalkers). But I also took a unit of ten, that reduces the cost for the Terminus Est’s Rotting Tide stratagem (bring back wiped out unit of Poxwalkers). They provide a cheap unit that can be left at the back to sit on an objective if that’s what I need in the game.

The Foul Blightspawn is there to give me a nice anti-vehicle weapon while also playing havoc with an enemy that wants to engage me in melee combat.
