Nurglings

Nurglings? More please!

My fifth squad of Nurglings is now complete. I was a bit stuck about which colour to go for this time around until a gaming friend suggested the brown that I used for Mulch’s shell when I painted Horticulous Slimux.

I think that the result looks, well, OK. But it’s not great, and it’s my least favourite colour. But they do seem to look pretty nice alongside the other Nurglings, so it’s not too bad.

Colours used

  • Flesh – Undercoated with Dryad Bark, washed with Druchii Violet and highlighted with Sylvaneth Bark.
  • Horns – Rakarth Flesh, washed with Agrax Earthshade.
  • Tongue, Intestines and Wounds – Bugman’s Glow, washed with Reikland Fleshshade and highlighted with Cadian Fleshtone.
  • Eyes – Flash Gitz Yellow
  • Base – Doombull Brown, wash of Agrax Earthshade and a highlight of Kislev Flesh.
  • A liberal application of Nurgle’s Rot to taste.

Even more Nurglings!

I now have four squads of Nurglings, and there is a fifth under way. I’m really enjoying Nurglings, they’re a lot of fun to paint and to play on the table. 9th Edition seems to have been reasonably kind to them and they’ve realised that they can climb through the walls of ruins. The alternating deployment is also kind to them given that they can deploy out of your deployment zone. I can see where the enemy is going and react with them or drop them off to deny any enemy units with similar abilities.

Nurgle Daemons vs Orks (25PL) – Battle Report

This was a very last minute game against someone who wanted to try out their Crusade army. This game features a number of firsts:

  • My first narrative mission.
  • My first time using Power Level rather than points to build a list.
  • The first time I’ve taken an all Nurgle Daemons list with no Death Guard with the Death Guard always being the core of the list.

A little proud moment

Yesterday some of my painting was featured on Games Workshop’s Hobby Roundup live stream. I know I’m not the best painter in the world and I see so many people painting so much better than I ever will. But I’m doing alright, and this little bit feedback was lovely.

Somewhat ironically my Nurglings are probably the models that I paint the quickest, but they’re also ones that I really enjoy painting. They’re so much fun to build, paint and then play on the table top. I’d already ordered myself another box of three of them when I found out about the Hobby Roundup.

This link should take you to the video, my Little Lords at at around about the 12 minute mark:

So, anyway, a little moment of feeling proud. Go me 🙂

Death Guard & Nurgle Daemons vs Astra Militarum (1,500 pts) – Battle Report

This is my third time playing Jake from Cadian Shock in 9th Edition. We’re currently tied on one game each, how will the third go?

You can read Jake’s write up of this battle here.
